- Tom Thumb: You probably wouldve appreciated Denim and Leather more. I loved this album when I got it when it 1st came out. https://youtu.be/PgTHwpqCJ0w
- Martin Lehotan: Saxon-Broken Heroes
- keeto787: Cattle Decapitation- Manufactured Extinct
- Francis Therrien: Love it that you are knowledgeable enough to compare early metal to each other. I would just like to add the recording technique back then and now are ridiculously different. Analog recording was expensive, add more budget to Saxon , would they stand better next to Sabbath & Priest? Answer lost to time, yet Saxon are still going strong. and touring in 2019
- jbones1987: not a fan of early Saxon. later stuff is great
- chuu207: Bathory - A Fine Day to Die
- veritasrex66: +Will Pike Absolutely. No contest.
- kenneth laterreur: That would be a long video lol
- acidarrow: As much as I love Saxon I think it's fair to sum them up as "simple but effective", a moniker that applies to a lot of NWOBHM bands. Try some more; Mercyful Fate - Evil (not NWOBHM I know but same era) Iron Maiden - Powerslave (the actual song from the album of the same name)
- 1994 mathis: Black Sabbath into the void
- Jessi Brunson: JessBmine ...I've seen 4 other people doing reactions to SRV on YouTube. Looks like these guys wouldn't be having a problem with it. I would love to see them do a reaction to him, also!
- Max Stirner: Queensryche!
- trfp: I agree with aragorn. After all these guys have been listening to, suddenly...Saxon(?!). Unexpected. But ok :) just not their best song. It's rather vintage and nostalgic then really 'timeless', as they said
- Damian Perry: listen to diamond head - helpless
- ryan hildner: You guys should react to darkest hour- tunguska
- TheTonyahawk: +Hunter Nichols During the concert I saw in April Princess got the strongest reaction, can't remember if they even played Denim and Leather. Still it was Priest's show so the set was shorter and focused on the new album.
- Nick Drage: Melvins - A history of Bad Men
- Banzowski: Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Live Wacken 2013) C'mon guys, you need to react to them!
- R Licerio: Has anyone suggested, Saga? React to "Wind Him Up" and "On The Loose" by them.
- 23Ograin: Sounds like a rock band playing an Abba song.
- jack jack: Wintersun time
- Laurel Douma: It's OK. It didn't grab you because Saxon is really not as good as Judas Priest. I do not think you would have a different opinion if you heard this in a different musical context, like if you stuck with 80s metal for awhile and stayed there, THEN moved on to later stuff. In any case, it's not realistic to TRY to consume music that way. It's a journey, and we all learn about new genres and new styles organically, for the time we're living in. tl;dr Saxon's just not very good.
- Omkar Bharambe: WE NEED MORE GOJIRA !!! and yea...please do Lamb of Dog - 512 too. :)
- racewiththefalcons1: Weird Saxon song to start with. You'd appreciate their newer work a lot more, like Witchfinder General or Thunderbolt.
- Alesandro Perosa: I highly recommend Symphony X's Iconoclast album. Pick any of its songs and you'll be blown away by the riffs that the album offers. Children of the Faceless God or Reign in Madness are my favourites. Maybe Wicked was not a good choice to start listening to this band, imo
- Tom Tanaka: Yes! Metalhead for a more modern sounding one after Princess..
- sinistergrey3: All Them Witches- "When God Comes Back"...or "Alabaster"!
- Jason Benesh: "Princess of the Night?" Try Accept's "Princess of the Dawn."
- LiquidEagle232: Do Gloria by the dear hunter
- TheRabidBanshee: Saw Saxon at Wacken 2016 and they blew my mind, Kings of nwbhm
- Pierre Guyader: Current Music? Are you serious? look at what they are listening specialy in metal ( i dont know about rap ) , definitely not current music. NOBODY LIKES OLD METAL?! you crazy......
- mr198221: Saxon! Why no 'Dallas 1pm,' though or 'Power and the glory?'
- Joseph Lampo: Please do Chevelle - Family System. U will love it.
- Dreamer Deceiver: 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😎🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
- GuitarAddictsAnonymous com: VERY cool for you guys to mention Saxon. I've always been a fan of Saxon, but there might have been few better songs to debut to Saxon. Denim & Leather a classic think it was recorded in 1981.
- Fredy Flores: Deafheaven - Honeycomb Iced Earth - Wolf Kamelot - Karma Conception - Flow
- Ay2Zed: I think they would've liked the song Denim and Leather better. It's got that early Judas Priest groove they like.
- Luneu: Give Iron Maiden another shot for the NWOBHM, I think you will dislike any song with bruce dickinson. So I suggest you Phantom Of The Opera, Strange World, Killers or Remember Tomorrow. Different Sound and singer
- RB Rock: I like that song, but think you like 747
- TheMasonator777: Try Diamond Head next.
- Douglas Stabell: Over My Head will be a better intro for them i think.
- OEMR: Love me some new wave of british heavy metal
- James Thomas: X2
- Lethia Page: Woot. Denim and leather! The album is a response to the rift between the metalheads and the punks as rock and roll started to diversify. Fans tended to hate each other. The line from the title song of the album behind you there is "Denim and Leather...Brought us all together...It was you that set the spirit free." It was supposed to be an anthem that both groups could tuck into and calm the tension because kids were getting hurt by rival fans going to shows.
- amegone: King Crimson 21st century schizoid man
- Adán Erubiel Liddiard: My favorite song from is Saxon is Metalhead. You have to listen it!
- nno2012: Dare you to listen to Orphaned Land - oceane land or birth of the three
- mikey jib: CANDLEMASS!!!!!!! ❤🤘🤘
- D. Ryan: Lol I thought this was Judas Priest when I was a kid in the 80’s!
- Sangre Sani: Pink Floyd - Time
- xadeuz: DREAM THEATER - HOME DREAM THEATER - HOME DREAM THEATER - HOME DREAM THEATER - HOME DREAM THEATER - HOME Best quality YouTube: Dream Theater - Metropolis 2000: Scenes From New York [HQ] Go to: 42:00!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
- Billy Ruben: Hero of War by Rise Against!
- Leboman: Riot - "Outlaw"..old school NYC Heavy Metal
- Saadiq Mohamed: Please do krayzie bone - clash of the titans, people need know about him and what he's capable of.
- Bill Marantos: Do The ocean "the great dying"...thank me later!
- James Alexander: This song is a poor example of Biff Byford's vocals...if you want a good example check out 7/47 (Strangers in the Night) or Wheels of Steel Both songs come with kickass solos, too
- Brian O'Neil: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!! MY FIRST FAVORITE SONG BY MY THIRD FAVOURITE NWOBHM BAND!!! This is old school so yeah not everybody is gonna feel it like I did back in '81. This is why you guys are the only reaction channel worth watching. Open minded, honest and intelligent breakdowns. Hands down y'all are the real deal.
- J B: Saxon is one of those groups that didn't catch on in the US. Maiden and Priest write much better songs. You should consider going back to Hair metal with Whitesnake - Slow and Easy
- Stephen Gillis: Check out Politicians in my Mind by Death
- mike s: Damm old school track!! but if your going to do Saxon , Crusader is probably their best.
- Jason Pike: This is one of my favourite songs even though I didn't hear it until about 10 years ago, or later. I'm pretty sure the mid-solo is the template for the solo in Seek and Destroy, by Metallica. And the music sounds like its subject matter ( a steam loco) which is clever. Fair enough, Saxon couldn't hold a candle to Judas Priest or Deep Purple , but those bands were exceptional by the standards of their time.
- Keith Peterson: Saxon, Wheels of Steel, Dallas 1 PM, Crusader, Strong Arm of the Law - all way better than Princess of the Night
- Marco Marouco: the solo...metallica just rip it off minute 1.50 but its also a good solo in kill em all cant remember the song....Saxon live just kills.
- knightowl852: Sabaton The Lion from the North... As for Saxon, thanks for playing this band. Never heard of their music before. But many metal friends of mines have mentioned they were a great band. Either way you did not like them or did thank you for giving them the opportunity.
- Elric Newby: I like Saxon but they are of their time certainly production wise. At the time though this was all new hence the NWOBHM without that you don't get Thrash Metal etc
- fourclawrider: Whatever Bathory song they hopefully eventually choose to do, they need to do follow ups a least a couple of times because bathory is too diverse and monumental to capture in one song. I think raise the dead, sacrifice, the return of darkness and evil, woman of dark desires, enter the eternal fire, shores in flames, pace till death, blood fire death, nordland, death and resurrection of a northern son plus the ones already mentioned would make for some excellent reaction vids and good starting points to explore the band.
- Lee Thibidaux: Accept - princess of the dawn Symphony #40
- Don Way: BigEBass I agree that they would love Wasted Years... the presence of the bass in this song is unbelievable!!!
- Michael Danley: I think it would be hilarious for you guys to react to infant annihilator videos.
- Ray Thillemann: Alcest “Ecailles de lune part 2” Agalloch “Not Unlike the Waves”
- Ikmel A.A.A.: Should have gone with Crusader.
- Mike Jackson: Dokken...Kiss of Death
- ultra inferno: YES- roundabout
- wvusmc: I feel like going out and buying a leather jacket now.
- GARY MARK: Great song great band pity the song is constantly skipping ahead in this video, spoils it.
- Danny Smith: The guitar rhythm, is ninetys punk riff! Penny wise an others
- MrZTH: You guys should check out Sabaton - Panzerkampf, Carolus Rex, The Art Of War or Powerwolf - We Drink Your Blood, Army of the Night, Higher than Heaven!
- Ace Bragg: Saxon barely registered in the U.S. whereas Priest has been headlining arenas here for 30+ years. There's a reason for that.
- Insulter of Yeezus Christ: Or Free Country by Witchfinder General, and as someone else mentioned: Gardenia by Kyuss, or even Demon Cleaner by Kyuss! Please!
- winchester dean: yess! i want to see that!
- tim wirasnik: Love me some Saxon!
- DJ King: Joyner just dropped Litty. Lawd have mercy
- Aaron A. Foster: I would have recommended the title track anthem "Denim and Leather"... Princess of the Night is a fan favorite for a deeper cut, but "D&L" tends to appeal to everyone.
- Strung Up: Yes!
- Eduardo Freitas: Emperor - The Loss and Curse of Reverence
- John Gialluca: I remember when this came out. Never liked this song much, but the song Denim and Leather (a great song) did a really good job capturing the mood of that time. I was living in Germany in 1980-1982 when all of this was germinating. Germany and the UK were ground zero. I was lucky enough to catch a Maiden show in a skating rink in Eppelheim. Yeah you read that right. It was an amazing time and place to be a teen. 😎 Keep up the great work. Love watching your journey into metal.
- Oscar Sanchez: In Flames dude! Swim. Cloud Connected. Trigger. Jotun :D
- John McKenna: You have to be real fans of metal to like Saxon. And even then they were always “also rans” next to Maiden, Sabbath and Priest. They have some good songs but nothing on the level of their contemporaries. Check out the songs Denim and Leather, Wheels of Steel or 747 by them. Good songs you can sing along to but they definitely aren’t great songs.
- black spring: yes Candlemass
- Basilio Martinez: Finally ! Do denim and leather or Dallas 1 pm
- Tim Raulerson: Saxon-Broken Heroes
- Mariano GDS: Yes , please. Eagle or March of time....
- Leão da Montanha: bravo
- Richard Morea: Right, right, and right. Keep "guessing" like you do because imo you guys are right. You seem smart. Did you get good grades in school? lol
- Greyson Graham: I was introduced to them when I saw them open for Judas Priest and they totally stole the show. So much passion and precision.
- Green Man: React to Kyuss
- Brandon Parent: Beneath the Wheel by dri. Yall need some crossover thrash in your life
- Rogério Penna: Well, I love Saxon, but to tell the truth, Princess of the Night is faaar from being one my favorites from them.
- RainingPiggies: You might be interested in "Machine Gun" by Jimi Hendrix. It's a proto-metal song with interesting lyrics and instrumentation.
- Lantern Jaw: This is the opening track and a blistering example of "New Wave...". Sets a great tone for the rest of the album, there are a few better songs on there (imho), but I disagree with people saying it's a poor choice. I saw Saxon last month and this song is in the set list 35 years on. The album Denim and Leather is the third in Saxon's "holy trilogy" ...though really that's just popular opinion, true fans acknowledge Saxon as consistently brilliant, with zero bad albums (though the late 80s were pushing it a bit).
- Steven Richards: I know this is unnecessary but these are some bands that are just underrated I feel even though they're amazing and I feel you should check them out and these songs so long comment time. Diablo swing orchestra: exit strategy of a wrecking ball, the age of vulture culture, rag doll physics, honeytrap aftermath Dog fashion disco: siddhis, fetus on the beat, Anacostia, struck by lightning, end of the road Polkadot cadaver: phantasmagoria, sole survivor, phantom limb, sea grave, Mongaloid, stronger than weak Haken: a cell divides, veil, cockroach king, drowning in the flood, point of no return Amazing bands and songs if you guys see this they're definitely worth a look, keep up the great work your videos are always entertaining.
- StarWars_noob noscope: Do Sabaton - Coat of Arms
- TOXIC_CHURCH: I do love old Saxon but the song Lionheart from their 2003 album of the same name is absolutely unreal and well worth checking if you ever do Saxon again!!!!!
- stockcomsprite: Parkway drive- dark days!
- Lantern Jaw: Because apparently "love zone" by Priest is better than "Dallas 1pm" by Saxon.
- ADTRFTW7: "Karn Evil 9 1st Impression, Pt. 2" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
- Rodrigo M. Viana: Heys guys. Greetings from Brazil. Check out Illuminate by Harvs. Nice instrumental and groovy prog metal. I think you're gonna like it. Also they're a relatively new band, so give them a shoutout #FreeThinkers #UndergroundMusic
- Dickleson: Please do Headless Cross by Black Sabbath! High underrated song and Tony Martin is an amazing singer!
- Pierre Guyader: Iron Maiden Phantom of the opera pls ! One of the best heavy metal songs !
- doctorx3: Trouble - Assassin
- blkhwkbob: I was there when it came out. It's pretty good, but you're right, it is dated. Solid review.
- k00p:-:p00k: Oh wow! What a choice! Saxon is definetly the Status Quo of NWOBHM! And the people like it! And yes: they aren't the kings of progression and musical crafts, but... they are so important.
- BigEBass: Great analysis. Good job, guys! Please give Iron Maiden another chance. Maybe try Wasted Years. It's more recent material (in the context of how long they've been around) and is very "approachable" for a mainstream audience. Also, you have to remember that Bruce Dickinson is a classically trained Opera singer. Dude is amazing.. And, he flies the band around in his own passenger jet. Like a Boss.. 😜
- 80sHardRockLover: Of course I went super serious on thar part. The emoji shows it very well
- Tom Tanaka: Definitely try 747 Strangers in the Night!
- ron nelson: I'd suggest listening to something newer from saxon. "secret of flight" or "queen of hearts" would be good. rush is rush and there's nobody else really close to them.
- Nick Drage: Eyehategod - Blank
- John campbell: SAXON! SAXON! SAXON! SAXON! SAXON! "This one's for the bikers"!
- osp80: 747 strangers in the night is a great saxon song too.
- Gary Spaziani: Love you guys, your a lot of fun to watch and listen too!! The metal head from the 80s☠️
- Bikzimus Maximus: Pretty hard to judge the production value when the original audio link they listened to is a 240p video from 2007.
- Wayne Henrick: Do some zztop blue jean blues or i need you tonight.hall of famers and you havent given them a listen yet
- Brian Praamsma: Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force The grandfather of neoclassical metal which lead to many other genres.
- Ron Elbrechter: Saxon..... Although both suggestions have a bit of a long intro.... Suggestion 1:. Dallas 1PM Suggestion 2:. 747 (Strangers in the Night)
- trfp: If you want to listen to New Wave of British Heavy Metal nowadays you have to pretty much start with a vintage and nostalgic mood in order and enjoy the time travel :) Saxon, Pegasus and Running Wild are iconic of that genre and they are fun, but mostly 'flat', as they said. Some bands and songs will be timeless though :)
- Frank Arocha: You guys are awesome. Love this song
- JessBmine: They tried to do him twice on the patreon channel but were blocked both times
- Charles Harrison: What a way to Fire up! the British Metal torch! SAXON was not on my Heavy Metal radar- thanks so much. Please play JUDAS PRIEST's Beyond the Realms of Death off of Stained Class.
- Seth Meyer: Judas Priest is A league. Saxon was important for their time but they are B league.
- Damjan P: Please react to Alice In Chains - Them Bones or Again
- Michael Richards: Scar Symmetry - The Illusionist or the Iconoclast
- Deadliest Assassin: A good modern 1 would be Lionheart. 747 is my favorite classic next to Crusader, Frozen Rainbow, Dallas 1PM, Wheels Of Steel, Strong Arm Of The Law, The Eagle Has Landed, Broken Heroes, Requiem (We Will Remember), Dogs Of War, The Great White Buffalo.
- MrDernagon: I should add no offense to Saxon. Great band and great music.
- illinoisanthunder: Mercyful Fate, Cannibal Corpse, and this one here are the only three things that came from left field. The guys in the comments are like a classic rock radio station DJ. So fuckin boring. Stop listening to them and explore.
- James Bennet: Agreed, they are a great live band. I try and see them at least once a year. The new album live is great, Bill can still nail the vocals.
- Max Rider: Yes but I think they'd like a more modern one like Sacrifice or Call to Arms. Love the Saxon
- Andy Fox: Steven Wilson - the raven that refused to sing Porcupine tree - the sound of Muzak Dream theater - Blind Faith
- Mik H: Saxon.........meh.
- Kyle Metz: Saxon was always kinda a "meh" band for me until I saw them open for one of Motorhead's final shows. Their performance won me over and I appreciate them a lot more now.
- Andy Ruiz: Can u plz react to some stoner metal. How dark we pray by High on Fire
- fatbeer85: Great video as always! Please react to devildriver's clouds over California. Video preferrably
- Bull Harris: I never liked them. The big metal bands are big for a Reason. It’s not like rap or pop music, where you can get popular for seemingly no reason!
- patrick Foster: Hayyy Lust n' vegas bros!!! Remember tomorrow Paul Di' Anno! Iron Maiden!!!
- David Luzi: speaking of early Heavy metal stuff, you should try Accept - Monsterman ;) cool vid as usual guys keep it up !!!
- Ginger Hammer: Screaming Eagles!!!
- GrantH: We need Stevie Ray Vaughan!
- Slayertack88: Overkill - Feel the Fire
- olavrell: Please do a reaction to Pentagram Burning Saviour. Pentagram started out back in the 70's influenced by acts such as Black Sabbath, recording several demos but never getting to the point of releasing an album before the 80's arrived, after several line up changes. Despite this they were a heavy influence on early doom metal, and stil today stands as one of the best and most important bands of the genre. The song I suggested is from their second album released in 1987 called Day of Reckoning.
- Ikit Klaw: Anvil
- Brandon Mcmanus: The Outlaws - Green Grass & High Tides
- BTO: Soilwork - Death in General
- clone120: Sepultura - Ratamahatta
- Thomas Araneda: React to Avatar - Legend of the King!!!!!!!!!!
- Jeramie Koval: React to whitchapel - brimstone
- Diego ARDG Perpetva: keep going guys! great review! I'd like you to do some of the following songs (if possible all of them thanks): Helloween - The dark ride ; Immortal - Tyrants ; Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times ; Burzum - War ... I still think you could give Maiden a couple more chances
- Berzerking Lemur: NWOBHM? Meh, Corrosion of Conformity please! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvsQsao1F88
- Billy Warren: The song "Denim and Leather" might have been a better choice, just cause it shows the lead singers's voice a lot better.
- Brian Bierlein: Hell yeah to Kamelot, Helloween and Powerwolf. Not familiar with the others but I'm sure they're great. :P
- theprophecy11: Still waitin for some Helloween... Eagle Fly Free for example.... Just aayin
- Josephious Brosif: Alter Bridge - "This Side of Fate"
- Jesse Bowman: Between the Buried and Me-selkiesssssss
- J F: +Lost In Vegas - React to Triumph - Magic Power, or Moonchild/Blinding Lightshow, or Rock n Roll Machine
- Thomas Grant: That was a great review and I am a huge Saxon fan but I tend to like their earlier music. I believe they are more of an acquired taste for most but I still love their music.
- jackassplus: Fear Factory! Powershifter, Linchpin, Damaged
- SephL: Slipknot - The Nameless
- Brian Steele: Or Arise...
- K L: Tygers of Pan Tang has some cool songs and was part of the new wave of British Heavy Metal too.
- Brice Foster: Savatage - Sirens please!!
- arredond: sigh... Dire Straits have so many good songs sadly this seems to be the only one people know of
- Eugene Lopez: Black Label Society. Genocide Junkies.
- Sweejit: That solo just screams Chuck Berry.
- toby puscifer: TooL Roseta Stoned
- Olly Johnson: Architects - Doomsday
- Diego Arellano: Ryan George please!!! I know you guys thoughrouly enjoy Gojira. So how about a band that is Gojira on steroids. Maybe if Gojira meets Death Metal!!! Check out Beyond Creation “Surfaces Echo” Beyond Creation is a tech death band from Canada who have almost fused their style with progressive music. Great transitions, smooth yet complex riffs. They are one of the poisoners of contemporary tech death.
- allmetalrules666: Melodic death metal time... At the gates, Dark Tranquility, Nightrage, etc...
- John campbell: Better Saxon songs: Dallas 1pm, and Strong Arm of the Law.
- VogonPoet67: If you want to react to a great overlooked 80s metal band, check out Metal Church - anything from their first two albums
- hmpz36911: Absolute favorite of mine.
- Alex Tomasi: princess of the night is a " mainstream " song, good but easy ... 747 strangers in the night, is much better, imho
- Jordan Petrie: PLEASE DO WAFFLE - SEVENDUST
- Arjun Jain: Devin Townsend - Deadhead (live at Royal Albert Hall) !!
- Chris Voorhies: Please react to Yngwie Malmsteen or Nightwish
- Ethan Schwebach: You should do Halestorm
- N1974: Deep Purple : Highway Star.
- Marduk: This is one of those cases where the band was tremendously influential at the time, but execution-wise they are not on par with other classics. Judas Priest doesn't come up often enough! Check out 'The Sentinel' and 'Metal Gods'!
- Tony Viner: Try some new Opeth. It's the stuff y'all like about Opeth, without much of the stuff you don't.
- bear6693: Ahh, as much as love At the Gates, I don’t think our boys Lost in Vegas are ready for At the Gates.
- wasted forever: Please do Saxon - "Heavy Metal Thunder", "Redline" or "Warrior".
- Tom Tanaka: +Rob Jarrett THANK YOU!
- Christopher Nelson: Awesome!!
- Robert Cuff: React to Polyphia- GOAT!!!!
- George Bautista: Pink Floyd - Time ❤❤❤
- jimigrunge: Not the best introduction to one of the forefathers of British metal, this album was recorded on a shoe sting budget. If you want to hear what they sound like with great production you should try: "SAXON - The Eagle Has Landed (Official Lyric Video)' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybjc8HDVz8g OH, and my daily request... Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart Official - "I'll Take Care of You" Live at the Beacon Theatre New York
- Jug Juggerson: Fawk YEAHHH SAXON!
- Teddy Boehm: Def need some theocracy on here totally agree
- Gungriffen: Saxon - "Power and the Glory" is a better track.
- Edward Loves crypto: Talent is the only thing that beats time
- 123Stevepepe456: Saxon was just another band, Priest out talented them by far. Wheels of steel would be a better choice or even wheels of steel. Nothing really special in my opinion.
- Carlos Morales: I loved your comments on this reaction and I think they're on point. Although I've been listening to metal for most of my life I had the same reaction to Saxon you guys had. I've heard that Saxon has gotten better with time and they're still going in 2018 with great albums, but they really haven't grabbed me the way other "cult" bands have. You want to listen to some obscure New Wave of British Heavy Metal goodness? Listen to Angelwitch, the song Angelwitch. And guys, you should listen to some Nightwish, I'm amazed you still haven't listened to it.
- Jorge Aleman: Hey you guys should do some more ghost like faith or square hammer
- Industrialist2015ofUk: Reminds me of Motorhead's Another perfect day! Check out One track mind - amazing solo...
- Adi: guys, try saxon song crusader. its an epic song, truly.
- Mike M: I love Saxon and finally got to see them live in 2018. They opened for Judas Priest. Give them another chance with heavy metal thunder or wheels of steel
- Gregor Ross: Definitely check out Domination PANTERA!!! Im a country boy that listens to George Strait and Pantera. DOMINATION!!!
- Spinal: I would say give UFO - Rock Bottom a try. Probably my favorite solo of all time.
- Scott Gillespie: Unexpectedly horrible...Hopefully This is it for the past "Metal" bands... Between the buried and Me ! Please!!! White Walls Informal Gluttony Condemn to the Gallows Disease, Injury, Madness
- Knight Stryke: Awesome! Thank you guys for doing this song! Saxon rocks and this is their best track in my opinion.
- Bassopin: I'd also go for Hole In The Earth!
- Shmick !: I think Saxon is a depth band... as in you’d possibly love them if you were a massive NWOBHM fan and you wanted to dive deep into it. No doubt Saxon were hugely influential and a talented band, but you’re right. As a casual metal listener in 2018 you wouldn’t find much here.
- Dylan Neuens: hog1775 they’ve had a very long and successful career, so not sure where you’re getting the “nobody listened to them” idea. Maybe not immediately around you, but they’ve had enough success to demonstrate otherwise.
- Artis Life: Great choice, happy to see more NWOBHM picks
- miconis123: +DC Blunt Both are classic so you can't go wrong with either. I'd side with Master though
- ALAN FLYNN: Thin Lizzy Dancing in the moonlight, The Rocker, still in love with you - the list goes on (you must know Boys are back in town) Black Rose dammit I can go on classic rock that doesn’t date.
- SarcefulOfSecrets: this is the best thing Lemmy ever wrote. Shit, this song should be teached in shools. It is such a simple, crude, almost animalistic approach to poetry, yet the depth, agression and resonance is unparalleled; and the ever pounding bass line works as the perfect frame. Such a great song.
- Danny Dorko: i think its just this style of metal that you're not a fan of amd thats fair enough. Im not that into it either. even though I like fast punk music I'm not into fast metal, I prefer mine with a bit more groove
- Kevin Ryder: Do Thin Lizzy!....One of the greatest rock bands of all time from Ireland! Heavily inspired bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Mastadon....the list goes on!
- dexta32084: xxonkelmarc Great song, when WASP decided to ditch the shock and got kinda serious.
- Testiclopse: *Agalloch - In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion* Make sure to filter by HD and watch in HD. PLEASE and thank you.
- Zigur Eru: TESSERACT - Of Matter (Live at Sphere Studios). This is a necessity! Gotta hear it!
- Lemonyrhus: In Flames - "Cloud Connected"
- Peter Brown: Why not Denim and Leather?
- Tom Tanaka: Forever My Queen! Or Nothing Left!
- Cole Osborne: Racism-Adam Calhoun
- Burritos234: slipknot snuff
- Chad Cassidy: I would also recommend Wasted Years, from the first era of Bruce. As much as I love the classic era, they might get more out of the 2000s Maiden. I don't know, Maiden has been a tough sell so far
- CashWiley: Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall
- Darren Gooding: +Tom Tanaka you're talking to me?
- John Lidwell: Saxon!! Awesome! They are one of those bands that just kept, and keeps, getting better and better and better and BETTER!!! Check out the last few they've done!
- Todd Peucker: This song is ok but not their best. You might like is songs of theirs with much more profound themes such as the commercially polished broken heroes or Dallas 1 p.m., which is about the assassination of JFK.
- Patrick Shelley: If you guys want to hear some current classic metal in this same vein but updated and better, check out the band Visigoth. Maybe start with steel and silver. I'm not holding my breath though, since this is 3 months old...
- s0rd3z: The Sword - Apocryphon
- Alexis Rivera Carrasco: attention to this comment, please
- Cortland Wheeler: Infected Mushroom "Heavyweight" Electronic music genre and Israeli originating artists. Let's see you react to that.
- Emilio Dangel: Metallica - Seek and Destroy solo = Saxon - Princess of the Night solo
- Micke Niklasson: Classic NWOBHM. Great.
- Tom Tanaka: Then you don't know enough to talk about it.
- VOIZES: DIAMONDHEAD - The Prince or Helpless!
- Melinda Huerta Greene: they sound like Rush!! lol...
- tenac2215: KYUSS Green Machine!
- Rodrigo Cardoso: You guys really should start to react to the live versions of the songs of this particular period and genre. Like i said once in another video, the difinitive versions of iron maiden 's the Trooper for example, are the live versions.Especially the ones in "Rock In Rio" and "En Vivo" cds. Saxon is one of the finest live acts ever too. So are Kiss ,accept,Thin Lizzy ( i know there's a lizzy reaction coming and the chance you guys didin't like the studio version is huge). So don't keep falling on the " studio version is better" talk. You are missing a lot by doing this when it comes to metal. Cheers!
- mike s: Said it once say it again , love Chevelle but for a 1sy listen I'd go with Closure was what turned me onto them.
- Henrik Horváth: Beyond the Realms of Death by Judas Priest would be really cool, you should give it a shot!
- Tyler Miller: I like the live version TheRabidBanshee was talking about.
- Mr. Potato head: Steve Via, whispering a prayer.
- thalesbr: Judas Priest - Beyond the Realms of Death. You heard them heavy metal (Painkiller), you heard them classic metal (Victim of Changes), now it is time to hear their best "ballad"
- k0bra 3eak: Bolt Thrower - When Cannons Fade
- allenro1: Im a patron💸...I paid 1,000,000,000 dollars🤔 to hear yall react to "do not look down "...🖕🖒🤘. Do not look down.😐
- Rafael Santti: Hey guys, plz react to Polyphia - G.O.A.T , great video as always, not expecting saxon !
- Andy N: black sabbath - a national acrobat (if you want some phat groove)
- Sarah L: I'd love to hear your thoughts on Black Sabbath's song Black Sabbath. It's pretty unique.
- gristam s: alot of these older songs sound alot better tuned down if u got songster on your phone you can play the music and tune it down
- Anthony Rivers: Saxon? Poor man's Maiden!
- Slaughterhouserock: Check out Folk Metal: Korpiklaani - Ruumiinmultaa Korpiklaani - Kultanainen Skálmöld - Kvaðning (preferably the live version with full orchestra) Ensiferum - Hero in a Dream Tengger Cavalry - War Horse Heidevolk - Vinland Finntroll - Jaktens Tid
- efrain iniguez: White Zombie - More human than Human
- goodolddaze: In every style of music there are artists who are real and come from the heart, and there are those who decode and copy other bands. A computer program could write better songs than this.
- Bubba Clemson: Gotta do some Carlos Santana.. awesome guitar and well written melodic tunes! Start with Black Magic Woman and work back from there
- Ronald Owens: I will say it again PRIMUS ,AS THE TOYS GO WINDING DOWN. You will thank me.
- Kaiosphere: Do *Fear Factory - Replica*
- assaxon *: Yeah i think denim and leather might have been a better choice song wise
- DocRaunchy: Living Colour - Ignorance is bliss
- Sergio Zambon: Thanks!
- Dylan Underwood: The Dillinger Escape Plan- Symptom of Terminal Illness
- Sargent D: 7 words....Savatage-Hall of the Mountain King
- gwalia2112: Influential yet very dull band. Still going strong too.
- Chris Crinnion: Great channel and content guys! New listener here. How about a video on "Tears Don't Fall" by Bullet for My Valentine?
- TheRabidBanshee: You NEED to react to Metallica creeping death live in Russia, it's the only way to witness that amazing track
- Scott Bell: Relentless would be my choice but they don't have many duds
- Robert Johnson: Alcest - Eclosion
- Benjamin Wright: This song means so much to me in the context of my early junior high school memories circa ‘82. You guys nailed it with your observations about hearing it for the first time in 2018. Music is a very personal thing to people. I’m glad you could still appreciate the influential aspects of the song. It does have a killer riff, to say the least. Thank you for your spot-on unbiased review.
- Do Hoeijmans: Saxon The Eagle has Landed live Wacken 2008. Its an epic song
- GhostOf2077: crusader shadows on the wall sons of odin
- Hunter Nichols: +TheTonyahawk Yeah Priest will be better than Saxon both are OGs though
- Kenny Alderfer: Bolt Thrower absofuckinglutly!!!! One of the most influential and iconic death metal bands to ever set foot on the stage everything about them was pure unadulterated in your face death metal music
- Ridley Vernon: Wolves in the throne room - born from the serpents eye. Emperor - i am the black wizard. There needs to be more black metal like so they see
- daniel monroe: Love Saxon but I def wouldnt have picked this one to a casual listener
- Jim Harris: One of the greatest Metal bands of all time - this album suffers from a thin and tinny production but still stands up as a classic slab of Metal 🤘
- andras szeri: Saxon!?!? That's awesome guys. Classic metal.
- Pierre Guyader: Oh sorry, english isnt my native language ( i guess u saw it xd ) . So yes i could misread it. But hey, phantom of the opera is surely not operatic heavy metal to me. I rly think they can love this song, but im agree with Dickinson, they will not like him anymore. But btw i discover metal in 2003 ( i was something like 10 ) and it was iron maiden, metallica, type o negative, slayer etc.. and i had no nostalgia at all too obviously. For exemple: if i want to discover rap ( wich i already did years ago) i will surely not begin by the new bands but by wu tang clan, NWA, tupac, dre, dmx etc etc and the list goes on for every genre in music
- Schulti1337: Anything from the album "Incorruptible" by Iced Earth, though i would prefere the song "clear the way". Please, i'm dying to see your reaction :D
- Explorer766: "Moments of shine" and f"lat and dull". Fully agree.
- RocketEightEight: I wonder, who first invented this trick from 1:50? Year 76... Pretty early.
- Leah Dillard: I got to see them in concert about a year ago. I was right in front of the speaker and we will just say I couldn't hear for several days. Lol! I pretty much got an in my face guitar show the whole time. BADASS! 🎸
- Roberto Wagner: Please listen to Dalas 1 pm you will dig this Saxon song.
- John Bachmann: +CthulhuKittie That's awesome to hear, thanks!
- Chris S.: Saxon did a great cover of the Christopher Cross song, "Ride Like the Wind" in the 80s. It's totally worth checking out if you're not familiar with it.
- Blaster: saxon - militia guard
- Carlos Santos: Sabaton - Resist and Bite
- James Alexander: I was raised on early Saxon, so I expect the more European sound than the American-esque form they took for Power & Glory onwards...just a personal taste thing, I genuinely think everything up to Denim & Leather was their best work
- Gabez82: Love your honesty gents! Love me some Saxon, I’m 36, and did grow up with them, along with Priest, Maiden and other NWOBHM. This song is certainly my least played song from Biff and the boys. But great Saxon review.
- Ralph Filigenzi: Cool metal 80's song but cannot be compared to Judas Priest.
- Jean Auguste: React to Tory Lanez Lucky you
- Mark Alexander: The best chance this band would've had in getting your attention - and I agreed with your reactions, more or less - is for you to have played something off of Wheels of Steel, preferably "Motorcycle Man" or "Machine Gun." That album's sound was "bigger" and also had more dynamism in its range of tracks. I'm not a metal head, so as I've gotten older and periodically go back to these tracks from my youth, I find them less and less compelling. With certain bands you can definitely see the lacquer of talent chipping off pretty quickly. But the Wheels of Steel album (and the one after that) were their best years, IMO. Give them another go in 6 months maybe.
- Dean Darwin: TRIUMPH- NEVER SURRENDER The solo will blow you away....positive message in the song for what we need today
- Hemimike426: Newest album from them is awesome though
- Visonil Hendric: Yes, do this. It's one of the hardest solos and it's an incredible song in rest and probably not like stuff you've heard before.
- Jason Pike: BTW do review something by Running Wild.
- moffe2k: Machine Head - Darkness Within is what you should do next!
- Jonathan Edwards: A classic British band whose works span decades. Dallas 1pm would be a good visit. Great historical tune on the assasination of President Kennedy.
- JAYJAY TEE: You guys should of done Power and The Glory, high energy and better production.
- tsadler09: Im getting an early power rangers vibe
- thomas heroux: Would like to see you guys review Dokken’s “the Hunter”.
- A. C.: Thanks, it has been months of me trying to get them to do that
- the80,s rocker: check out dallas 1 pm by saxon
- Ayman: tool right in two
- Kiran Buzza: Master of Puppets full album shall be asked on every reaction until it happens...
- Jason Pike: I bought a compilation of songs by Diamond Head and they all sounded like potentially great songs, if only they were played by a band with 2 guitarists and a singer whose vocals actally fit the music.... like Metallica! I think this was and is a band to study if you have your own band. They laid the groundwork for Thrash metal, to be sure, but I don't really enjoy listening to them.
- Mariotron 8: Will you do more Alice In Chains? Your pick. Leave a like if you agree
- James Boswell: the first Megadeth album is a prime example, the riffage is fierce but half the recording budget supposedly got blown on drugs.
- 21robidou: do Heartwork by Carcass
- Oliver Pretscher: Children of bodom please
- Daniel Angelov: BigEBass run to the hills, the trooper
- MravacKid: When it comes to Saxon from that period, the song to go to is "And the bands played on" and from what I understand about your tastes it would suit you better. But they're still active, so there's lots of newer stuff.
- prwlncoogr: Dogs of war better choice or something off the new album thunderbolt
- Ancient Ruins Official: I'm still waiting for you guys to do Iced Earth travel in stygian Athens version😝😝😝😝🤘🤘🤘🤘
- Paul H: Time for some classic, heavy Queen! - Stone Cold Crazy, Ogre Battle, Now I'm Here, Keep Yourself Alive
- Jonathan Rainer: Pls react Angra - Temple of H ate
- Vernon Allen: In its day , this song was a breath of fresh air to a lot of plodding heavy rock / metal that was around in the mid 70's and in the 30 odd years since it has been superseded by others but it holds up quite well and Saxon were an inspiration to Metallica Megadeth and a host of other thrashers.
- Eli Gurvitch: Any Saxon video gets a like from me. Saw them live a few years ago and even at 35 years into their career they prefromed the best concert I've ever seen!
- Rick Henderson: Just recently saw these guys opening for Judas Priest. Good show. I think they sound much better live than on record. They've always seemed a bit of a second-rate Maiden to me, but not bad by any means.
- Hashtag Panda: Jafro | BL@CKBOX S13 Ep. 164
- Peste Noire is nightcore for nazis change my mind: Iron Maiden - Paschendale
- James Bennet: Saxon are a great band and still absolutely nail it live - Saw them a few months ago in Glasgow and they absolutely killed it.
- Gavin Revitt: If you wanna try another Saxon, go for "20,000 feet" or "Wheels of Steel"
- insertnamehere: Curtis Loew, by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I've requested this on every Lost in Vegas video. I'm dying to hear that song on your channel.
- Nicke: Banzowski i sooo agree, but it seems that they are avoiding them. It seems that everythings else is beeing played. Maybe when hell freezes over and they get to their scenses☺️
- Joseph Stoner: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!!!! We need some blue up in this shit!
- Aaron Antoine: King's X - Dogman.... I hope ya'll give this a chance, because this song kicks ass
- Ian Rigg: Its because Priest is way better, Saxon is average at best
- Meister Dejv: Not the best Saxon recommendation. I think 747 (Strangers in the Night) would have been a better entry.
- Sam Malekghassemi: Kyuss - Gardenia Try some stoner rock
- brian knutson: Accept. Balls to the Wall
- Simon Slee: King’s X - Dogman or Over My Head
- 52ndWarhawkGerbil: We Will Fall Together or Would You Be Impressed by Streetlight Manifesto please!
- Sebastian Armas: Thank You Scientist - Mr. Invisible
- darkiee69: You guys should react to some Ramones!!
- Oilid: The singer lives now in Normandie (France). Cocorico ! The chorus was a bit cheesy though.
- GWAILIN: For '76 man, this was mega cool
- vaggelis papadopoulos: Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno
- miconis123: The Call of Ktulu would be awesome for them. Just hope they don't repeat their mistake with Rush's YYZ and asking when the lyrics are going to kick in
- Zach Frye: Pantera-Mouth For War...I know you guys like heavy catchy riffs that one has 2 really good riffs. Just overall a great song
- Scott Gillespie: Between the Buried and Me !! Please!!! White Walls Disease, Injury, Madness Informal Gluttony Condemn to the Gallows Selkies Endless Obsession
- Weeb-kun: Actually saxon did make it big in Europe. At the begining of the 80’s they were the biggest metal band in Europe, more so than priest, or anyone else you care to mention. Fact is they were poorly managed and ended up going for the more pop sound to break into the american market which failed and killed their european popularity at the same time which never really recovered. They are having quite a comeback now since Thunderbolt released however. And nobody can deny the influence Saxon had, one of the fastest heaviest bands of the end of the 70’s and early 80’s. Criminally underrated by all, and their live performances are phenomenal even today.
- Victor Cabanelas: Biff got better with age, if you ask me. I started listening to Saxon 15 years ago and the only thing that sounds weird to me on their early stuff's his voice.
- wvusmc: This would be a good choice. I doubt they would enjoy old In Flames.
- Malkovith1: Please do maudlin of the Well - Birth Pains of Astral Projection Such an underrated band, they changed my life. It's well put here: "The majority of the band's music and lyrics is based around astral projection. The goal of Maudlin Of The Well was never to create music, but rather to bring back pre-existing music from another plain of existence. This was done through the practices of lucid dreaming and astral projection. Whether or not the band achieved their goal, it is fair to say that they have definitely created some of the most original and other-worldly music ever. "
- WKUFranko: Much better song, I suggested this one too.
- ManchGuy22: A Martian Winter - Angel Vivaldi Live Again - Silent Civilian Be Quiet and Drive - Deftones
- Patrick Holt: Odd choice, rather than 747 Strangers In The Night. I don't think a lot of their stuff holds up, and I really think they were let down by a weak producer in the studio, and more primitive technology. I feel like they were recorded too quietly, and without enough understanding and feel for distortion and the sound in general. The argument would be that they were better live, and that just wasn't captured.
- Ian Hernandez: Letter To Me Brad Paisly.
- Érico Ferry: Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
- Cody St.Clair: Architects and mudvayne, architects andmudvayne, Architects and mudvayne, Architects and Mudvayne, Architects and Mudvayne, Architects and Mudvayne
- Fabian Reyes: YOOOO DO THE TORY LANEZAND JOYNER LUCAS DISS TRACKS BOTH OF THEMMM!!!!’SHIT GOT ME FUCKED UP
- Doug McGinnis: COME ON GUYS! GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT! AC/DC - LET THERE BE ROCK
- james burns: Yes Judas Priest is just better!
- Charles Latora: Not the best Saxon song, imo. Killing Ground, Running for the border, coming home...just saying. Still as always great review.
- Splinter Thmpn: Carcass "Reek of Putrefaction"!!! Please.
- Dave Lanciani: I could never warm up to Saxon. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden were just so much better, more interesting. I agree with you completely - they're a bit dull.
- Jack Brown: For real, this need to happen, along with Sleep's Dragonaut. I love the faces George makes when he's listening to Sabbath.
- Adan127: You can definitely hear the same solo on metallica's seek 'n destroy.
- Naum Alberto: Gojira - Lowlands
- Omar Hani Zarifeh: You have to revue the live version, esp the one that follows on from 747
- Kenny Alderfer: Bolt Thrower guys! Bolt Thrower Bolt Thrower Bolt Thrower
- Osi Orr: Dallas 1pm will blow your mind from content subject matter and the first note of the solo will bring a tear to your eye! Rock On!!
- Peter Brown: This song never reached me in the 80's,90's nor today it's not just you guys. Priest are better songwriters and wrote more for America.
- DHT317: never liked this band....super cheesy metal
- Sterling Archer: My first concert.. Saxon, aldo nova and cheap trick... Obviously a great show.. 1980ish.
- Michael Thomas: Chevelle please! Send the Pain Below, Face to the Floor or The Clincher.
- James Bennet: This is a fan favorite though, they always play it in every live set
- Adan127: There is no such genre as "hair metal", you mean glam metal? I feel like 《in the still of the night》 would be a better song for them to react to.
- Sabbatical Magic: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REACT TO MIGHTY SAXON
- Musicbymusicians: initiation/Eagles Fly Free
- MrJayLaroche: ICED EARTH - DRACULA or Dante's inferno
- Home Gym Fitness: check out Saxon Denim and Leather
- The Graceful Savage: George is right about Saxon sounding dated. I really think its because of the way it was recorded. A lot of british bands of the era just had cheaper recordings that were much less warm and full. To me a lot of saxon sounds very thin and tinny. Compare it with some of the best recorded music of the era and there is a stark difference in tone simply due to the sound engineering.
- Pee Wee Wallabowski: +Saul Slendamann not if you listen to the original versions
- Vitaly Golub: totally, or bleu muhder
- Bar Barian: Yeah I agree with your points (it's always interesting if we differ too, that's cool) but, I'm a big fan of Iron Maiden and Mototrhead from around that period particularly... far more timeless to me than this band. Though somehow I could hear a bit of Megadeth in there, in that solo.I know what you mean George about moving up through the years but I like that you mix it up, and I think it helps with sudden realisations of roots and inspirations... just all round cool channel guys, as always!
- TheInevitableTruth: Love the musical exploration you guys are doing. Would be interested what you think of Janes Addiction. This is the beginning of "alternative rock" which later exploded in the 90s. I'd recommend "Mountain Song", "Standing in the Shower Thinking" or "Been Caught Stealing". Similarly, another alt-rock 90's pioneer, how about Nirvana? If you're not too familiar with them then you have to start with "Smells Like Teen Spirit". If you have heard that plenty of times, then try a less commercial but good tunes from them - "Sliver" or "About a Girl".
- Tyler Quantrill: Saw these guys the other week, they still sound awesome ! Love Saxon. Check out their track 'Dallas 1PM'
- Andrew Dunn: Yelawolf- daylight, til its gone, devil in my veins, or row your boat!
- Ginger Hammer: Or Screaming Eagles, or Lion From the North
- Steve O'Bryan: AvataR - Bloody Angel
- godcrutch: Haha quickest review ever. But these guys were pioneers at that time. Check out their newest stuff and knowing where they came from to where they are today. Still great band.
- kenneth laterreur: Death angel discontinued
- Peter Brown: Saxon is as British as you can get next to Maiden, Sabbath or Priest.
- Roadking26: Try Saxon Hungry years. Better vocals, great hard blues like riff. Underrated song. Or Dallas 1 pm, about Kennedy getting shot. They even use the actual radio announcer recording before the solo. Power and the Glory is another great one.
- Chris West: Diamond Head - Am I evil
- Matus Dust: I can see why Saxon sounds a bit dull to you. I think my first reaction was the same. As I already suggested in Patreon comments, try "Satan"! I can't be the only one who thinks it would be a good idea? Some song from Life Sentence album, like the opener "Time to Die".
- Tom Tanaka: Saxon is a thousand times the band Whitesnake ever was!
- Keith Kinkade: Saxxon sucks......
- Doom Head: mikethepayne And justice for all
- mindtraveller100: I just thought of something that will blow their minds. Zeal & Ardor - Come on Down ! ! ! Give likes to this or comment the same, if you agree. Please.
- Frank Marinucci: Didn’t like Maiden, Saxon or Thin Lizzy. Damn, man. If you want to retry Saxon and you didn’t like Biffs vocals try off the Wheels of Steel album, Motorcycle Man (which he belts out) and See the Light Shining. See the Light Shining also has a killer rhythm change, what y’all call transitions. The lyrics in the song are very basic but it’s preformed at such a high level that it doesn’t matter.
- so long and thanks for all the fish: For some old old country try Jimmy Dean -big bad john and Alan Jackson Midnight in Montgomery is just a great song also (not as old)
- Alvaro Pita: Iron Maiden- 'Powerslave' or 'The RIme of the Ancient Mariner'.
- Lee Allen Grange: Lifelong metal fan here, and you have described my feelings on Saxon perfectly. I never was able to get into them at all.
- Lantern Jaw: +Steve Poland Oh, nice! Thanks. I only have one Anthrax album so far, hopefully I'll get to those.
- Dirkschneider: The riff, guys. THE RIFF!!!
- Moon Gazer: ManOwar - Ride The Dragon
- Ram 75: King Diamond - Abigail or Conspiracy
- Raymond Cardella: Dyers Eve
- Lemonyrhus: +wvusmc yep me too, that's why I've been asking this song for months lol
- C. Cervantes: Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out in Space
- Juho Suomi: For progressive death metal, check out Swedish band called In Mourning w/ tracks like Debris, Celestial Tear, The Smoke, Colossus, A Vow to Conquer the Ocean, For You to Know
- Bier: The first real Metallica tour was as support for Saxon in 83
- Anon Nymous: The only thing that I don't like about this is the WAYYYY over-produced vocals.
- Josiah Stewart: Nothing More- this is the time
- Mark Fuzzman: WINTERSUN - SONS OF WINTER AND STARS!!!!!
- Miguel Fabrega: Machine Head: Davidian
- Seawolf USA: You guys should react to Foreplay/longtime by Boston. It is an absolute masterpiece.
- Paul Godfrey: I would really like to hear your opinion on some of Metallica off of the Load or reload albums. Like "The Memory Remains" or "Until it Sleeps"
- Cullen: React to Screaming Night Hog by Steppenwolf!
- acweaponry: Wintersun rules!
- Dan Farr: I totally agree with you guys on this one, the thing with Saxon is their live performance, they are ridiculous, I personally think their recordings are a bit lack luster though
- Carl Porter: Rush By Tor and the Snowdog.
- Yiorgios Vazouras: You guys should do a reaction video of Dragula by Rob Zombie. You guys haven’t really covered Industrial Metal, and it’s a shock rock classic as well. Really worth a video.
- stefaan vyncke: pls react to NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love Score (OFFICIAL LIVE)
- Jay Hamilton: Saxon is one of Metallica's influences, along with Bad Brains and Möterhead
- E Biddy: Listen to Yes-Roundabout. Classic prog. Steve Howe was the first guitarist inducted into Guitar Player Magazine's Gallery of Greats as the best overall guitarist! The rest of the musicians in the ban are equally recognized as the top players of their instruments. Rush and many prog metal bands list them as main influences.
- Ashitaka1110: Yeah, it's a good song, it's just...it's aged. It shows it's age. It ends up coming off as a sort of simple, inferior Priest or Maiden tune.
- nick ;-;: More judas priest!!
- Larry K: Under the Oak
- Florian Fuchs: Saxon --->Crusader https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPbSjmToWXY
- Evan Davidson: I know I've heard this at least once before....but damn that's a deep track...haha...I love it....
- Linus Wärn: Sorry but this song was quite boring and very meh
- toby 333: Saxon-Crusader
- James Boswell: Now do Testament - Trail Of Tears :)
- Martti Syrjälä: Would be cool hear your thoughts about Hell Is For Children by Pat Benatar. Controversial lyrics at that time 1980.
- Khalid Bukhari: I would suggest you do one of Judas Priest songs from their latest Album to see their real greatness. Also, give Iron Maiden a chance they are as great if not greater than the other bands you appreciate. Go for Aces High and I ptomise you wont be disappointed or Dance of Death. I know I am a single vote but do it for all Iton Maiden fans and you wont be sorry
- Kylea Michele: Dark Tranquillity - Atoma. DO IT!!!! I'm telling you you will NOT be disappointed. They are so good
- Tom Tanaka: The old bands deserve just as much attention. Especially the lesser mainstream ones like Saxon.
- Riley Orchard: Diamond Head - Am I Evil?
- DES S: Well the beginning of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Granted they have a important part of British Metal. I'm not a big fan, but you gotta respect their labor of love for the music ( they're still recording music today, with a album pending for release this year or 2019). And any band that can weather that kinda of storm years deserves recognition. Well with that being said I would like to put in my request as always for your reaction to *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* *Ultraphonix* a collaboration between *George Lynch* (guitar Dokken) and *Corey Glover* (vocal Living Colour) the songs *Crawl Walk Run* or *Counture Culture* featuring *Dug Pinnick* from *Kings X*. Maybe *Kings X* *Over My Head* *Living Colour's* *Open Letter To A Landlord* or *Corey Glover's* solo release Hymns the songs *Sermon* or *One*. And on the country side Dwight Yoakam's *Thousand Miles From Nowhere*, *Guitars and Cadillacs* or *Fast As You* or *Pistol Annies* the songs *Hell On Wheels*, *Hush Hush*, or *I Got My Name Changed Back*. One more side note I think also if you guys get the chance check out. *Ian Moore* particularly the song *Satisfied* off his self titled album by the way in my humble opinion this whole album rocks. Keep on rockin' peace ☮️ ✌️!!!
- Chestercules: you gotta do 747 by saxon, defo best song!
- fourclawrider: Saxon and Motorhead, the 2 obligatory bands every self respecting biker has a patch of sewn on his jacket!
- Thanashs Kokkinhs: Accept
- Tom Tanaka: When someone calls Saxon a second tier band you know they know absolutely nothing of what they're talking about.
- PrestigiousK96: Dallas 1 PM by Saxon is one that I think you guys may enjoy... maybe?
- Dat Nilla Von Dizzle: seriously CRUSADER!!!!! By SAXXON!! Or anything off that album. Give them another listen if you want to get some serious rock
- Deven Science: Great review, guys! In this year of second chances, I'm still waiting to see Primus appear in the feed again. I'm thinking "My Name is Mud."
- zachary benson: Please do ice ts band body count or the biohazard song punishment y'all would love it
- Alexandre: Should've Reacted to ''Killing Ground'' or ''Rock is Our Life''!! Much better songs!
- Pedro Blaidd: Protest The Hero - Skies
- Amer532: BATTLE ANGELS by SANCTUARY!! PPLLAAAAAAAYYYYYYLLLIIIIIIIISSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTSTG
- Juan Pablo Luengas Restrepo: Saxon - Battering ram
- eighthof8: Another band I grew up with it. Matter of fact I uploaded 2 Saxon songs a few years ago and they're still on youtube: Broken Heroes and Searching for Atlantis
- DjDarkD: Please please please react to Muse Citizen Erased!
- Waterboy '97: Iced Earth!
- Ra's al Cool: Yes yes yes yesyesyesyes we need to get these guys listening to some good doom, given how much they love heavy riffing and grooves
- Mitch Passero: Dokken - In My Dreams.
- Oodles McNugget: Diamond Head - Am I Evil or Dont You Ever Leave Me
- Peter Brown: Why not Wheels of Steel?
- gwalia2112: Rush and Saxon in the same conversation is always going to have the same kind of comparisons. :)
- Tom Tanaka: Or Denim or 747.
- Victor Gabriel: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are not known as the greatest band of the NWOBHM for nothing, guys! hauhaua
- Dat Nilla Von Dizzle: The obvious and easy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHXDatoFVwM
- Blaster: phantom of the opera by iron maidennnnnn
- bill williams: I would have went with Wheels of Steel but this is a good choice.
- Frank: Damn You guys dug deep into the 80’s bucket with this one..might of even got a little bit of some 70’s on your hands 🖐 🤚
- David Mel: Heavy Metal Thunder ..... Princess of the Night really??
- wilson garcia: Yeah we need some pantera reactions, i want to see the reaction to ''the sleep'', ''this love'' or '' cemetery gates''
- metalheavythrasher: Metallica - “Damage Inc.” One of their heaviest songs. Great video guys!
- Darren Dill: Dudes! I miss jammin Saxon! they have a great catalog. would explain more, but don't want to clog comments. keep jammin! this is a very unique band. they definitely sound a bit dated here. don't give up on them though. the power and the glory! \m/
- Travis Janot: IMO they're an even better band today. Other singers wish their voices could age like Biff's.
- Mark Magellan 37 the Navigator: Living Colour Which Way to America?
- TallicaMan1986: Peter Brown Pink Floyd
- Insulter of Yeezus Christ: I wanna see some Purgatory by Maiden, Angel Witch by Angel Witch, and Trial by Fire by Satan!
- J Lester: New Sa-Roc song! Goddess Gang!
- James Bennet: Bill still has his voice, too. Especially considering his age. Saw them a couple of months ago in Scotland and he was was hitting the highs in Crusader, Power and Glory, and the new songs were excellent live - Especially Secret of Flight and Sons of Odin.
- Alandras Chrabrý: Accept - Teutonic terror, heavy metal you will really dig I promise
- Pee Wee Wallabowski: Saxon is awesome! They never sold out and always entertain live. Seen them twice 🤘🏻
- Dimetal1984: At the gates - Slaughter of the soul
- Mark Alexander: also, when you listen to the melody line he's singing in the chorus and the chords they use to set him up for that, you almost get the sense that they were trying to be a bit cross-over here. It has a vague "pop" feel to it in that chorus. Maybe this was them trying to write a hit beyond the normal metal scene. It's really more of a melodic hard rock tune, albeit with the solos in your face.
- Michael Shane: Do Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross
- Brian O'Neil: I get the point of his comment full well but if you're going to apply "Britishness" as a characteristic than the bands I mentioned are AS "British" if not more so.
- maseawee: Chino Moreno “Brief Exchange “ Chino Moreno “Brief Exchange “ Chino Moreno “Brief Exchange “
- mr198221: 747 has the dope intro
- 47 and2: very generic music if you ask me. and i know you didn't.
- Randy Wagers: lol Saxon....I can't wait to watch this when I get home from work.....
- Spegy N Merbles: You guys still need to do nymphetamine fix by cradle of filth. It’s such an atmospheric song and I know you’d love it!
- Bill Reed: Great review, I love how you keep it real, but please dont compare some second-rate glam metal band to rush or Neil Peart. (BTW he has said himself several times he doesnt care how people pronounce his name)
- E Biddy: You've done classic metal, how about some classic prog! Yes-Roundabout.
- BallsSpaghetti !: Yes!
- HD: Sonata Arctica - Full Moon!
- MrJpage10: Guys, you really need to check out the Mars Volta. They're prog rock and I think L'via L'viaquez would be a great place to start...or The Widow..you won't be disappointed
- Andy Ramirez: Arch enemy - nemesis pls
- Dean Malelu: I concur that Bewitched would be a better song.
- Brecklyne Lunt: Gates of Babylon by Rainbow please, you'll love it.
- Stephen Parkinson: Crusader or Just Let Me Rock
- Hunter Nichols: Princess of the Night doesn't do this band Justice I would give Saxon another shot either with 747 or Denim and Leather both are great songs
- Mike Badwolf: 747 strangers in the night or wheels of steel are good ones by them
- Bier: Many people dont know it, but Kirk Hammett was „very inspired“ by the first solo in Princess of the night when he wrote the solo to Seek and Destroy
- Dre D'Avanzo: Get back on AIC and Tool. You guys are slacking on them.
- uncleburns: Quit playing and review the four horsemen by METALLICA
- Alfonso Murillo Bolaños: WOOOO SAXON!!! I listen to that song everyday xD.
- Brandon Cummer: Yo man you guys should check out some Ted Nugent stranglehold it's s great song.
- thewallofsleep: Saxon are a great band, but cannot be compared to virtuoso musicians like Rush, Yes or even Deep Purple and Iron Maiden. They have a much more raw "street level" appeal. You're asking too much if you want them to play like Rush, because that's not what they're about.
- Film Kini: Please, please, pretty please check out Nanowar of Steel - In the Sky. You might like it, especially the lyrics.
- Jimmy wenebuff: JID about to come out with an album, DiCaprio 2, you hve to do a whole album reaction
- Home Cam: Rammstein - Asche zu Asche (ashes to ashes). Sung in German.
- Dat Nilla Von Dizzle: Makin it easier for ya ;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mALTuEECEHw
- Veronica Lake: 🇺🇸😊👍🏼
- SwordOfPhoenix: Helloween and Avantasia
- Lantern Jaw: Iron Maiden "redeemed themselves" by pleasing you? Grow up.
- Mariano GDS: Try something more contemporary. Saxon is a some kind of pionner of heavy rock. The evolve with the genre, the produccion evolve, the playing too. Even if you listen this song re-recorded in the 00's sounds 10 times more powerfull. My choice " BATTALLIONS OF STEEL", "STATE OF GRACE" or " WARRIORS OF THE ROAD" or the song tibute to motorhead " THEY PLAYED R'N'R". They play heavy, they play hard, and they rock ...
- rus84d: Check this out. https://youtu.be/LcvNpwS8hu8
- belleobscurytee: yes, we have been saying this ...they will do it eventually ..they must
- CthulhuKittie: They did it on patreon, so it should be out for everyone soon.
- David Videla: Ah come on guys, Rush is just on a completely different level haha. Trust me I get it, Rush is my favorite band but that's not fair to Saxon, can't even compare the two. Good reaction though!
- Kiran Buzza: If we're going nightwish, the song should be the greatest show on earth...
- Timothy Brice: YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!
- BRÄO: Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father You will LOVE IT
- John Hampton: Damn - thought I had heard everything from the 70s, but I never heard this one and I really like it. I probably would have bought this album back in the day. Thanks guys! Peace!
- mr198221: Guys. Please. Please, please do 'No presents for Christmas' by King Diamond
- Warlock M: Ah, classic. A song about a train.
- Whyte Raven: Love your reactions ... could you plz react to Marc Martel ... bohemian rhapsody (one take )... It is crazy ... he has a natural talent !! 🇨🇦❤️
- Ben Levi: sorry guys, i have to be a bit naggy but you have to go back to motorhead again... the chase is better than the catch stay clean damage case
- chrilope: Boring riffs boring lyrics boring drums. Solo was good...just fell flat like you guys said.
- Hellcat M: I wonder what you guys would think of Triumph who came out in 1975. They have an excellent guitar player/singer and write good rock songs. I'd say try "Magic Power" or "Fight the Good Fight", "Hold On" is another great song "Spellbound" I think is the first song I heard from them, and I loved it, "Follow Your Heart" is another great song and its uplifting. Most of their songs are uplifting.
- mrlost117: Misfits - dig up her bones
- Marcus Tidholm: Love this song!
- Jordan Pennington: JAMEY JOHNSON THE DOLLAR!!!!!!
- brian knutson: Saxon was a bit dull. There is a reason they never made it big. Great riffs but the total package comes up a bit short.
- scb0212: Dillinger Escape Plan - Widower. C'mon - the groove will blow you mind!
- Douglas Stabell: I say Over My Head is going to be the best choice.
- MetalMusicFromAcrossTheWorldYT: Fates Warning-Monument!
- Mr. HD: Just listen to gojira global warming live in the studio if you want to hear one of the best metals songs ever sung and played live
- toby 333: Van Halen-Hot for Teacher, as much as y'all love the drums this will blow your mind.
- The Death Twitch: RIP Dimebag Darrell 14 years today, loved and missed

- Dano Steel: Give Enforcer's "Take me Out of this nightmare" a listen!
- Dirk Diggler: This shit would be cool if you had a mullet, fully clad in denim back in 83 flying around in an iroc Z.....but its 2018...
- Christopher Galat: Wintersun "Sons of Winter and Stars" still waiting. Love the videos guys
- dave ethridge: I recommend Bloodrock DOA. They were the godfathers of death rock.
- Steve Goldstein: You guys should do a behind the scenes video! I love your channel and all your vids and your chemistry is awesome! I think it would cool to see how you guys prep for a video and a peek behind the green screen :)
- veritasrex66: Bolt Thrower - The Killchain
- Moon Gazer: Type O Negative - Love You To Death, Wolf moon, Anaesthesia
- Bryce Sause: React to war eternal by arch enemy
- Jimmy Johnson: Listen to Crusader by Saxon
- blackcrayon133: PLEASE REACT TO Acid Bath - Morticians Flame the version off When the Kite String Pops and Rammstein - Links 2 3 4
- Jesse Mccullough: saxon was super unexpected . pretty cool to listen . please do a real doom band like sleep ,,yob,,or electric wizard. and do a good ppunk song like from the interrupptors
- MrCBTman: They should do the studio version.
- Nakamura 011: React to VOIVOD
- Paolo Fagioli: never been a fan of the studio version of this song. Live it's literaly on another level! (try the "eagle has landed"live version)
- AlphonseBraunschweiger Schnittzel: Nobody's Fault. Great song.
- Adriano Lanna: I'd love to see you reviewing Iron Maiden's 2 Minutes to Midnight!
- braadwurst11: Death- spirit crusher
- Omar Beydoun: Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Live) !!! Another awesome reaction. Always a pleasure listening to you guys, always an organic and thoughtful reaction. Take care!
- Ned Rini: Still waiting for more songs from Dream Theater’s Train of Thought album. This Dying Soul, In the Name of God.
- David Vargas: Skindred - Kill the Power!!!!
- Daron Roberts: Please review Carcass Heartwork!!
- Victor Cabanelas: One of the most under rated bands in metal, if you ask me. They're still around, releasing new albums every 2 years and kicking ass live as if they were half their age. Thanks for giving them a shot, though!
- sak prod: hi guys watching u from france love ur stafff hard! u' should react to silverchair greeting from france love ur react to black sabbath btw
- Ram 75: Metal Church - Beyond the Black or Ton of Bricks
- Metafizyczny Arkadiusz: Vektor forests of legend
- Brian P: Witchfinder General - Last Chance
- Lucy Myers: I think the live version of this track off the album "The Eagle has Landed - Part II" is a MUCH better version than this studio recording.
- Juan Vazquez: Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden
- John Runfeldt: Yes yes yes
- Érico Ferry: Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
- Mark Fuzzman: PLEASE!!!!!
- Chris Tate: Please do Nighwish - Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013
- Jeremy Breland: Grateful Dead Shakedown Street
- Edwin Oslan: I laughed out loud at the lyrical analysis. I love Saxon, but I understand how their subject matter is pretty banal. They sing about the least controversial, least edgy topics on the planet. What do you expect from a bunch of heavy metal teetotalers? When they went on tour supporting Motorhead in 1980, Motorhead were surprised at how much this group DIDN'T party.
- Alex Hicks: Would love to once again see you guys react to a song you'll like as much as, say, Holy Wars. I bet you want too, also! So react to Circle of the Tyrants by Celtic Frost (w/lyrics), already! 100% Connoisseur Metal!!!
- Yes Sir!: Saxon sounds like 15-16 years old kids creating their first song in some daddys garage.
- Dinamo: 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 Kings X - Dogman 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
- Dire Despot: Faith No More - Jizzlober
- Xervath: Suggestion: Diamond Head - The Prince Overall I'm not a huge Saxon fan. There are a few tracks of theirs though that just really get me going and this is definitely one of them (others include '747' and 'travelers in time') Great NWoBHM band despite my lack of personal interest though! (I might be in a similar boat as it just doesn't really "grab me") Thanks for giving this one a shot!
- Yahya Al Hajj: YES YES YES! PLEASE DO THIS!!!!
- Frosty The Snowman: I heard Saxon for the first time this year too, when I saw Priest live. I totally agree with you on this song, it was just OK. That said, live, these dudes throw down and are amazing
- Anderson Vidoni: I think the earlys saxon albuns suffer more from the sound mixing. The live version of this song is crazy. From the 90' their start to geting heavyer and I love that. I would have indicated "Dogs of War" for the reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqNu9SbFK_Q
- hellsunicorn: This is almost as big of a surprise as seeing you guys hit Mayhem's material. Long and short of it, Saxon's material was heavily influential on both power metal and thrash metal, and also had a fairly sizable impact on some of their contemporaries like Iron Maiden. Nevertheless, pretty much everything they did tends to have a low-fi production value up until around 1984 when they put out Crusader. "Princess Of The Night" is among their better songs from their early years, but there is definitely some things to be desired in how the song was produced. If you ever swing back to Saxon, I'd recommend hitting something more current like Battering Ram or Battalions Of Steel, they definitely have a much higher production grade and Biff Byford's vocals have a lot more attitude to them.
- Claes Isacson: More Saxon tips; ”Wheels of Steel” or ”Dallas 1pm”
- Stavros Stratikos: Camel-Lady fantasy
- Antuan Mastro: Please check out Breadcrumb Trail by Slint. I know it’s the wrong genre but they are amazing
- Ian Flanagan: Theocracy- laying the demon to rest Gojira- in the forest The sword- hammer of heaven Rush- Xanadu or la vila strageto (both are great) YES- roundabout TOOL- Jambi Sleep- holy mountain DEATH- symbolic
- Nick Drage: Black Sabbath - Into the Void
- ratburger: Angel Witch - Sweet Danger / Loser
- MovieGuy666: They don't hold up next to Priest or Sabbath, and terrible choice for a Saxon song.
- Warren Page: Rivers of Nihil - The Silent Life
- Allahmein Crews: React to Shia LeBouf freestyle on Sway! Dope ass freestyle. Top 5 on Sway!
- TheRabidBanshee: +MrCBTman studio is great, but the energy from 1991 Russia is unmatched
- Stuart Gibson: Steven Wilson - Home invasion/regret #9. It has everthing!
- Potadorius: Legend Has It - Run The Jewels
- Henrique Pandolfo: Great job guys! I understand what you're saying, they do mean a lot and are a symbol of their time, but it would worth your while to listen to their newer material like Call To Arms (orchestral version even better). Give it a try, it's such an epic song and album!
- Naruto735: You guys should listen to You Gotta Know by Cro-Mags. As metal and heavy as you get without actually being metal: one of the best of hardcore punk.
- Jack Daniels: Damn dude, give it up for the train. This is metal with the balls cut off.
- Micke Niklasson: Many Cuts. Again, time to explore female fronted/female bands. Arch Enemy - "The eagle flies alone". Nightwish - "Ghost love score live Wacken 2013". Just to name two of many, many good ones. By the way, Saxom has a lot better songs and you should give them Another chance.
- Lucas seattle: I love saxon, reminds me of first 2 maiden albums, or some blue oyster cult stuff
- Styrkjar Steißbjörn: You have to sing it drunk ;)
- SoAd45474: You know it's gonna be good when they finish the song and the video isn't even halfway done! Mastodon's "The Motherload" video pls :)
- Ginger Hammer: Or Screaming Eagles
- thomas skeffington: A poor mans metal band.
- Brian McAlpine: No you're right, very highly regarded drum track
- Bruce Ontheloose: Napalm Death - You suffer
- Evaldas Bumeika: Machine Head - A Thousand Lies
- Chris S.: Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows" Symphony-X - "Of Sins and Shadows"
- David Ayers: The New Wave of British Heavy Metal. A mouthful to say, but just a fun time. Some really great music came out of that time. And, yeah...I don't think its you or the order you've heard things. Some music is timeless, even if grounded in its time period, it can still sound fresh. I'm with you...this song sounded dated, had unimpressive production, and just wasn't very melodic. In my mind, it came across as filler material. Maybe they were going for a stripped-down sound here, but it didn't work for me. If you've never heard it, check out You Got Another Thing Comin' by Judas Priest. Just about the pinnacle of that period. Don't forget: Fair To Midland - Musical Chairs!
- Daniel Marlow: You should also consider what a recorded song would sound like live. Especially with early stuff - the technology wasn’t there. I’ve never listened to Saxon but I guarantee this would have been a banger live back in the late 70s
- Clairvoyant81: I think it's simply down to this: This is a pretty straight-forward rock song. Don't get me wrong, I like it, I like Saxon every now and then, but it just doesn't blow your mind... and I'm fairly certain it didn't in the 70s, either. It's solid, straight rock. They are pretty great live, though.
- Brian Steele: If you listen to this solo and then listen to the solo from Seek and Destroy from Metallica then you will see the influence.
- John Schaeffer: Did not see Saxon coming. Good on ya guys for such a deep cut. I appreciate Saxon's good old fashioned rock and roll approach. I feel like they won't change anyone's live but even their filler songs are pretty good. Just a good consistent level of quality across their discography whereas bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden kind of faltered.
- João Emanuel Macedo Souza: Saxon dogs of Wars is a classic
- Electric_Eye: Why people would choose this over their "Denim and Leather," I don't know
- Saul Slendamann: James Boswell KIMB is an amazing sounding record; what are you people smoking smh
- Cronos of Venom: It's a very dated production. I think with today's production tools it would work for you guys.
- Fagerlund: First time I saw Saxon live was at Wacken. Biff introduced it like "We've been playing this song for you guys for 40 years. Now it's your turn to sing it to us." And then 70 000 people sang it to them. That was pretty damn awesome. :)
- Brian McAlpine: +darkiee69 personally, shiroyama
- Tom Tanaka: Priest might be my favorite band, but Saxon is just as good. It's just a matter of opinions.
- chrisbrown667: Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
- Yiorgios Vazouras: NO they should do the Live version from Seattle in ‘89!
- Scott Davis: I was born in ‘69 a long haired tattooed white boy in Canada. This album is one of my firsts and I holds special place in my heart. I love Saxon for that reason. What ever you liked at 14 you like forever. Music , women , etc. Try some Manowar, they’re super cheesy and wonderful. Love Saxon. And Manowar, ... ‘other bands play, Manowar kills!’
- Ginger Hammer: Two Lives Worth of Reckoning by Soilwork!
- MACMISIAS: Guys i know that things with Iron Maiden didn't go so well but try one more please of Maidens New Wave Of British Heavy Metal era please. Something with Paul Di Anno in vocals...Suggestions ? Prowler, Running Free, Remember Tomorrow , Phantom of the Opera....Such a nice and different aproach to Maiden . Early Days full of great music ...
- Tony Gomez: Love your reactions and breakdowns. Ozzy- Over the Mountain. 🤘
- Scott Davis: And you guys are funny. I like seeing you enjoy the tunes.
- Ángel Signes González: Please Gamma Ray "Beyond the black hole"
- International Feel: Far from Saxon’s best track. Can’t understand why anyone recommended to you. Try 747 or Wheels of Steel.
- Emil Rasmussen: Ethereal Kingdoms - Endings Dimmu Borgir - Renewal As I Lay Dying - My Own Grave
- xxonkelmarc: W.A.S.P. - The Headless Children is a great Song from the glory 80´s
- Aram Burushyan: Sabaton carolus rex
- Hosein: Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira Gojira
- Jdozer: Katatonia - Onward into Battle
- bullenunterwasser: The Sword - Iron Swan please!
- Gabriel Martins: Do Accept. Please, PLEASE do Accept. I’ll let others pick the song, but do it. I beg you.
- Eddie terrell: Yo! Joyner and tori done went back to back ...again!!
- Dances with Goats: Blackberry Smoke ... Pretty Little Lie
- Mateusz Pytka: Yea, something from Helloween should be done, you should not listen to power metal without knowing fathers of power metal xd but for me better options are "Save Us", "Halloween" (studio version) or "Walls of Yericho/ Ride the Sky". And after that something from deris era, like amazing "Time of the oath" or "why?"
- Pat Hadley: Gojira “Love”!!!!!!!!!, “Esoteric Surgery “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- VARUN IYER: DEATH ANGEL- RIVER OF RAPTURE
- McDeez A: More Sabbath!!!
- Ethan Byrne: Listen to some Helstar - Nosferatu
- Christian Lawson: The Contortionist!
- Hugo Fernandes: Greetings from Portugal. Here goes my usual suggestion to 4 portuguese bands. 1) Process of Guilt with "Feral Ground": https://youtu.be/g8iTsuwWxjI 2) Dollar Llama with "Louder": https://youtu.be/-ultHdm1pcI 3) Sinistro with "Abismo" (they sing in portuguese): https://youtu.be/mKO3vUlhSZQ 4) W.A.K.O. with "Drifting Beyond Reality": https://youtu.be/lRXJvDejSrQ Give a try to the unknown and Keep on Rockin' in a freethinker world! \m/
- Tarek Jayde Rahman: Nice song, though absolutely nothing on their "747(Strangers in the Night)". Also, speaking of Judas Priest, it's about time you guys did "Beyond the Realms of Death" or "Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver"(best metal ballad evaaaa)
- Kfowlz26: Classic. Wasn't expecting this. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO! YOUR! SELF! A! FAVOR! AND! CHECK! OUT! THESE! SONGS! Paradise Lost - Frailty Katatonia - Ghost of the Sun The Haunted - All Against All Amorphis - The Bee
- Stephanie Kratzel: Ramstein- mein teil, or du hast
- Irnes dzafovic: Can you guys do Angle Dust- Bleed
- W Pc: Accept - Fast as a Shark
- ziad rishmany: Tool - Vicarious
- Сергей Корнят: you just don't understand a real metal : saxon, iron maiden, Motorhead .....
- uncleburns: Heavy metal is the law
- James K: LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY - HIGH. PLEASE
- zagrod333: So I suppose that now it's time for 'Princess Of The Dawn' by Accept?
- thx134: I feel like it could be that there was a different mindset with metal back then than there is now.
- A E: Start the fire, Metal Church, God’s of Wrath!
- Matthew Gillis: DOG FASHION DISCO!!!!!!!!
- Krystal Waters: Seriously y'all really need to do RATT....."In Your Direction", "The Morning After", "I'm Insane" , "Slip of the Lip" and many more great songs to do.
- I'm the Dude!: Hey guys try Motograter by Down I think you will enjoy. Ivan Moody before 5FDP
- MrDernagon: Love you guys but thinking you might be going in the wrong direction. The last several retro genre reaction videos are getting a bit too obscure for mainstream viewers. Just want to be honest. Perhaps its inevitable because you're running out of more popular bands that you haven't already previously heard. Obviously first time Reaction videos are better viewing than Review videos. I still think there are better things you could react to than second or third tier classic rock and metal, or the more hardcore metal which is a very specific niche. My two cents. Maybe research the suggestions a little more first and react more for bands that had much larger commercial success and/or official Youtube views. Either way keep up the good work. I appreciate immensely what you are trying to do.
- americansensei: Metallica fade to black
- munsterr777: They might've liked Crusader better
- nathaniel hellier-allport: Should have done 747 strangers in the night by Saxon instead guys
- Mitch French: Please react to Kyuss - Whitewater. these guys were pioneers to stoner rock/metal. They are Pre queens of the stone age (the guitarist and bassist went on to form Queens)
- Wagner Schmitt: Angra - Temple of Hate
- K L: Flotsam & Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace(unmastered). Old school thrash metal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBE3mXKKw40
- Arvis Pinkletter: I think Biff Byford actually sounds better today; his voice is more leathery, more grizzled.
- napalmfred: Another great reaction video, another comment by me saying Carcass - Heartwork!!!!!
- Christopher Sabionski: and Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath.
- Javier Gonzalez: Saxon, really unexpected reaction, very cool :) Interesting analysis. I love Saxon... Live. They have a killer live show, and they're really funny. Their songs are very good, but I feel they're definitely one notch below Judas Priest or Iron Maiden. I also see what you mean by "maybe if we'd started out with this we'd like it more". A good part of it is that these old recordings tend to have pretty crappy sound, and that is definitely a big factor for "today's ear", if you wish.
- pipjr3927: Sonic Youth - Candle
- arredond: awesome that you guys did saxon! saw them live with Judas Priest
- Tenebris Rex: Lost in Vegas I concur with your reflections in reference to not being immersed in the music throughout life, when analyzing not in whole chunks in chronological order, and the fact that this song (and bands music as a whole) does not create mind blowing pieces like some of the colleagues in that time, their predecessors (for sure) and those who would descend from the same line, or directly from themselves.
- Harvey D: Old school metal!!!! Saxon!!!!
- Ethan Work: React to HEAVY METAL THUNDER!!! By Saxon
- Tozzinator: You cant like everything. Saxon is more simple and not as busy as Gojira or Rush, their simplicity and catchiness is their main focus imo. Try to revisit bands you didnt like eventually, either privately or on video. Great analysis btw. Keep it up!
- Brian: Hey you guys should do a video on the new Tory lanez freestyle towards Joyner Lucas it’s. If you look at JL’s instagram you’ll see how this all started and so far Tory just put out the first freestyle now it’s JL’s turn.
- vaggelis papadopoulos: +kenneth laterreur well when I said that before somebody told me the exact same thing 😂
- Jimmy Shadowen: There are old songs that stand the test of time (Sabbath)...& some that don’t. Always thought this band was a touch cheesy even back in the day, now it’s really evident. On that note, more Sabbath! Lord of This World or Into The Void
- Neigh Slayer: Please re-do Machine Head- Halo & Type O Negative- Black No.1. You haven't heard the full songs yet.
- Forrest Allen: Pink Floyd- The Great Gig in the Sky. PLEASE. You will not believe your ears
- Almighty Z3: Do meek mill “heavy heart”
- Knox Ladd: Do Switch by 6LACK
- Fred Hobbs: The remastered version (1999 I think) of The Eagle Has Landed. All about the atmosphere. My favorite Saxon tune, Biff shows off his vocal chops in an epic tune for the ages. Thanks for the upload. Peace!
- Sander: Enslaved - Lightening. You've never heard anything like Enslaved. They're one of a kind
- Charles Envosoft: I thought a Princess of the Night was something totally different, something one would find on Cherry Street...JK. I never heard of Saxon, I can tell it was older but the song is good. I think the lack of dynamics/fullness in the sound didn't allow me to fully enjoy it.
- Rafael Felipe Gati: I've been watching your reacts for a while, and as soon as I seaw the title of the song I already knew that that will be your reaction. The truth is, this is a great song, but not for everyone, it is quite simple like many other songs from Saxon, but still is a powerfull song, made for you to listen while driving your car throug the highway. I recommend that you guys listen to "Motorcyle Man" and "747" from Saxon, not for reactions or reviews, just to enjoy.
- mike MD: Palisades - Bad Girls
- Lonnie Tapscott: Cut my teeth on Saxon. This is one of my favorites from their canon, but I don’t think it’s a great introduction into the band. “Power and the Glory” will destroy you. Not only the song, but almost every song on the album. Especially powerful is “The Eagle Has Landed”! That song just builds and builds the tension until that last chorus/guitar lead callback. Please give them another chance!
- Dorian two: You guys are going in the right direction here! Great stuff. Might want to check out something like Y&T too.
- Guandy: Metallica - Bleeding Me!
- Dan Glesak: Please react to The American Nightmare by ICE NINE KILLS!!!!
- keifload: Metal Church
- Nolan Moore: Please react to The Sentinel by Judas Priest!!!
- NoiseSpektrum: you had to be there.....that said... you picked the wrong Saxon song imo
- IbraHim mX: Iced earth "When the nights fall"
- kenneth laterreur: I think Saxon is still relevant today thanks to their killer live performances I love saxon great band
- Tim Pijnenburg: Year of no light- Gehenne
- Moon Gazer: Korn - Wicked
- Rob Caldera: It didn’t grab you the way Priest did because Saxon doesn’t come close to Judas Priest in quality of metal music (even as iconic as Saxon is).
- Pathfinder Savant: Queen of Desire - Ostrogoth I wanna see them get hype over the intro, then get chills from the ballad
- taufiq imam hidayat: JUDAS PRIEST HELLION/ELECTRIC EYE!!! ITS DUE TIME!!!
- Jarkko Kyntäjä: In the beginning… There was, Saxon, among couple of others. One of the bands that introduced in the world of heavy metal. And, wait for it, they´re still there. Biff Byford, one of the best vocalists ever, especially live. Simple song, yes, working man´s metal !
- CasualDex: Love y’all reviews y’all, from Canada I believe that Weedeater - “It Is What It Is” will get y’all grooving like Gojira without the speed of that makes sense bro’s
- Heartbeat Podcast: Um, LOL
- Larry K: This band has alot of material, they never stopped making albums all this time
- CthulhuKittie: +John Bachmann You're welcome! 😊
- Juan Pablo Luengas Restrepo: Saxon - Sacrifice
- Dreamer Deceiver: Judas priest - dreamer deceiver 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
- Zed Victor: Saxon was always just okay to me too. But that solo was sick.
- MrRetrogamingBard: Whoa, a lot of requests and a lot of good ones. However, I like to request 'Rapture' by Hurt. It is their biggest hit at the end of Nu-Metal in the 2000s. I feel, lyrically, it's something worth talking about.
- S Toy: Angel Witch - Angel Witch
- Dan Mac: Mannnnn I'm so happy you guys chose to do some Saxon.. This song is actually about the trains that used to pass through Barry, South Wales, not far from where I live.
- Klink Klank Radio: PORCUPINE TREE: "Deadwing" PLEASE!!!!!!
- Kenny Alderfer: Jo Bench is an amazing bass player
- Karlsmart111: Candlemass - At the Gallows End
- Tom Tanaka: You always had a shit taste to be quite honest. Don't talk when you don't know shit.
- trfp: Try out Pegasus "Wings of Steel" :)
- Samo Targos: Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live Rehearsal @Sonic Pump Studios)
- Tobias Egerzon: For British new wave metal you should check out the band Diamond Head. Try their tunes Helpless or Am I evil. They were a big influence on both Metallica and Megadeth.
- brett leasure: you guys should do some Budgie
- Anthony Barnett: do some AC/DC
- Tim Carder: I love Saxon.....but... THIS was the most popular request? wtf? they have 22 albums from 1979 to 2018, not including live, or best of's, and they give you the most suggestions for "Princess Of The Night"???? nah man.... y'all shoulda went with the title track from that album (Denim And Leather) , or "Big Teaser"(tho it's more a rock song, than metal), "Power And The Glory", "Play It Loud", "Dallas 1PM", Rough And Ready". (or almost every song off of "Innocence Is No Excuse" and/or the 're-mastered' best of collection "Heavy Metal Thunder")
- Kyler Wiersma: Testament - Over the Wall
- MrKingswebe: George: "would we have appreciated this more if we had listened to more old school metal before we listened to newer metal?" No. Example: You enjoyed Judas Priest's 1970s song "Victim Of Changes" AFTER you had already heard newer metal, including Priest' 1990 song "Painkiller". Nope, like you considered later in your closing comments, its just that some songs are better songs within a genre than others. Princess of the Night is ok, but Victim is great.
- Don Price: Dallas 1PM was the song for an introduction. Epic riff and compelling, historical lyrics.
- Geoff Olson: Saxon is a great band, this was not the best song to do and you guys stated exactly why. Good reaction and good critic. You guys should really do Iced Earth next. Either the song Damien, or Dracula.
- JCORE01 jjaastad32: Buried Alive - Avenged Sevenfold
- sara blount: No...if we were doing Saxon it had to be Heavy Metal Thunder or Crusader.....
- Tom Tanaka: That's not a good indicator of anything but popularity.
- Daniel Cruz Espin: Phantom of the Opera - Iron Maiden
- Carson Grubaugh: Zeal and Ardor - Row Row
- Kyle Joseph: WHAT? SAXON?...never thought I'd see this. Awesome review guys.
- Somewhat Respectable: Or "In the Name of Tragedy". Modern classic (even though it's 14 years old now... Jesus).
- Ludwig Olsson: Bathory - A fine day to die
- SentByHim: My good gentlemen PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make genre-based playlists.
- Sugar Shane: Iron Maiden is my choice in this genre.
- Brian McAlpine: You guys really should check out some sabaton!!!
- Kathy Young: MoP full album would be epic.
- javier vasquez: Sepultura-Refuse/Resist
- Clandestine Council: Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper!
- Perkunos: Saxon is incredible, nice to see you guys do this. I recommend delving deeper into the NWOBHM: Angel Witch - Atlantis Satan - Trial by Fire
- hildormuthafo: I think this song is great for a history lesson in metal, but that's it. It clearly inspired great stuff that was created after it, but in comparison to other bands that followed this just sounds generic now.
- Chris Loffer: PLZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLZ React to Avatar!!!!! Bloody Angel A statue of the king...(have to watch the video) Smells like a freakshow Pain me red Hail the apocalypse House of eternal hunt
- Botram Duuze: Fear Factory - Archetype
- Michael Balxwin: Yes!!!!!
- James Alexander: Absolutely I've always found this song to be a poor showing for Biff's vocals
- Nikola Privatno: Dire straits - Brothers in arms
- BrisbaneAOR: QUEENSRŸCHE - EMPIRE
- twelvevltman: Guys, not even close to their best and heaviest stuff. Surprised this is the public's choice for Saxon. They're still producing really good and heavy tunes.
- rgiowizard: At the gallows end by Candlemass!!!!!
- Nick Halloway: Y&T - Black Tiger!
- Luís Mário Jobim Fontoura: nice one! You shoud do Nothing to Say, by the brazillian band Angra.
- Vlad-a: oh man... you don't cut Saxon...or any metal song :)
- jim Jennings: I'm going to be pushing for you guys to react to Static X hard :) it's coming up to the 20th anniversary of the release of Wisconsin Death Trip and been 4 years since Wayne Static died, they band are planning a big tour in rememberance. Wayne had a unique style of vocals and deserve to be in here. You could check out the title track of Wisconsin or my personal pick would be the excellent Cannibal. Also if you want to be giving a shout out to your viewers around the world, fire one my way :) I'm almost certainly the most Northerly viewer of your channel. I live in a place called Longyearbyen, the most Northerly permanently inhabited settlement in the world. Love the channel fellas, keep them videos coming.
- genaro lopez: React to Joyner Lucas Litty Freestyle Tory Lanez Trippie Red Diss super fire...
- Bassopin: I'd love to see you go back to Deftones again! I really think, if you ever do, you should look at their song Hexagram. One of my favorite songs by them- a different vibe from Digital Bath and Change, but still as emotional (if not more). The lyrics would be cool to see y 'all analyze- pretty visceral!
- Marcus Fleck: Maybe you should listen the re-recorded version of this song
- MrWalkingguy: I'm with you on this critique - 100%! And this coming from a fan from Saxon's heyday. I still listen to older Maiden, Priest and, of course, Black Sabbath. But, Saxon doesn't make the cut, anymore. They just didn't age well, in my opinion.
- gale: yes PLEASE we have waited long enough
- connor colquhou: Any revocation fans in here? Let's see some quality death metal
- genderlessperson: Iced Earth - Burnt Offerings please
- J Toms: Saxon doesn't have to be as good as Maiden, Sabbath, or Priest to be a great band themselves, which they are. Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law, and Denim and Leather all rock from start to finish.
- DarkSwordOfDoom: Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride and Joy!
- MrKawika64: Give "Power & the Glory" a try!
- ProgPro96: Vein - Doomtech
- Chris Ventura: You guys will definitely dig more of the American metal than the Anglo/Nordic/Euro stuff. Black Sabbath notwithstanding. Come on home and do Motley Crue Dr. Feelgood so we can see you react to one of hard rock’s most signature grooves.
- Bk Gaming: React to Slipknot-All Out Life
- Braden Jarvis: Can we get more Ghost reactions? A couple song suggestions: Faith, Square Hammer, Year Zero, Ritual.
- chicken2jail: Ryan is spot on about that riff. It reminds me of Maideb's Maiden's Number of the Beast riff, except it came out 6 years before Maiden did. I thought the singer's cocals were pretty melodic for a meral band, I may need to listen to some more of them.
- Krishach: Request for Anubis Gate - Telltale Eyes (for pace) or Golden Days (for lyric depth: full version, not the music video!)
- Taylor Harris: What is with all the metal? I feel like there are a bunch of other types of genres getting neglected for the emphasis on metal.
- David Edwards: Check out Nightwish. Ghost love score with Floor Jansen on vocals
- Timeless Metal Classics: Would love to see some more NWOBHM reactions. I suggest Angel Witch - Angel Witch, or Tygers of Pan Tang - Suzie Smiled
- mindtraveller100: Agree. Fuckin´Epic!!!
- King Dinosaur: Weird choice. There are much better Saxon tunes.
- chase black: Should've done denim and leather
- Miro Castañeda: Metal Church - Metal Church!
- Sean Vieira: This was unexpected. Haven't heard much Saxon but this was pretty good. It is a shame that the production quality detracts somewhat. You guys should check out The Ocean. They released a new album this year and it has some great songs on it. Perhaps Permian or Devonian (which has a guest vocalist) would be good ones to try first.
- Raiderblack: Saxon... always sounds dated. But they had their place in history... and had some good songs... I was never a huge Saxon fan...UFO - Rock Bottom Please!
- Jack park: What happened to guitar solos?
- John Smithson: Metallica - Battery live in Seattle 1989
- Nicke: Still not enough requests for Nightwish???????
- Bad Omen: Do volbeat - sad mans tongue
- John Everitt: Wrong song.for Saxon Dallas 1 pm much cooler
- Rick Deckard: From the 70's guys, YOU HAVE TO REALLY DO Blue Oyster Cult's "Flamming Telepaths" which is a magnificent song, much more interesting and... just a 1000 times better than "The Reaper" which is so dull!
- Cristian Andres Chacana Zepeda: Hammerfall - Hector 's hymn .....please o steelheart - she 's gone great power ballad and great vocals!!!
- Silence: Please listen to Dyzzi! Pick anything from his new album!
- Bier: I love Saxon ❤️
- Eric Puse: There will be music from every time that sounds good and some that doesnt. As a metalhead, there is some classical that I think is awesome but most I dont. That being said, I think there is a general raise in quality over time. Whether that comes from production quality, more highly skilled musicians or just the pressure to be better, whos to say for certain. I know you guys have had trouble with the label but try to do more Zeppelin. They have got to be one of the most cited influences in all of rock and its not just because of the hits you hear over and over on the radio but because of the fantastic diversity in their music and they kill it each time.
- Eric Spargo: Metallica Orion
- Og Wiz: Please react to giving me life by Mariah Carey ft slick Rick and blood orange !!! Her new album came out and it's fire but it's slept on for some reason 😩
- stuart rose: I have never been a massive fan of Saxon. Like you guys, I found them a little bland and not got the range of other bands. Please give Amon Amarth another go. The first song you listened to was so old and poorly produced. Try Guardians of Asgaard. Much more your style 🤘
- Kai Thongsavanh: It’s cool, Saxon was a band but yeah they weren’t influencing as much as NWOBHM like Maiden, Priest, Venom, Diamond Head, Def Leppard, Motörhead
- darkiee69: Agreed!! A lifetime of war or Primo Victoria.
- Eba Sal: Saxon are still making music, maybe you could do a recent song to compare for production quality reasons . To me they always seemed like that steady dependable band that is consistent but didn't really have any stand out songs. I guess that's why I never gave them much of a listen. The lead guitar was usually good though. This isn't amongst the best of their songs that I've heard.
- Mordechai Twersky: so this is my favorite song, but I hear that you might find the studio version a little flat...here is the song live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2igdE6yUQg
- Damodara Rosalino: 16 LEPROUS - The Price s2
- Zewerr: This is pretty early and mainstream Saxon. Though I like the song, it's not their greatest. Saxon is still around and still making new music. Over the years, they have adapted their sound to keep up with today's music. As a result, their music got deeper, more complex, and in many ways heavier than they did earlier. If you go a couple years after Princess of the Night, you'll get one of their favorites, Crusader, which I think is a much better song. Check out some of their new stuff, as well. Songs like The Thin Red Line, Red Star Falling, Battalions of Steel and State of Grace are some of my favorites from their more recent years. And as many said, Biff's voice is actually pretty unique and capable, and he sounds much better in many other songs.
- Tracy J: Why did you people push this song off of the album and not go with the Title Track?
- be brave clench fists: a fantastic closer to an amazing album
- Nabs Ludwig: Are you guys ever going to review Living Color?
- tim krejci: Nirvana puhlease!!!!!!!!!!!
- Patrik Svensson: Gentle Giant.
- tonynash4 .tonynash4: No es hip hop ni rap
- Henrik Horváth: Hell yeah!
- William Edmiston: Tesseract - Acceptance
- Karl Franks: Pretty much any NWOBHM group is going to sound at least a little dated at this point. Having said that, you should check out Diamondhead. Or... you guys could jump into some doom metal.
- Kalabei: Metallica - Blackened
- 80sHardRockLover: I've read some comments and people talk about production quality and stuff, but I'll disagree and give my point on why you found this flat: Heavy Metal came before punk. Before punk, heavier bands that have been inspired by Black Sabbath's revolutionary and heavy sound fused it with some bluesy and/or proggy stuff. So we had bands like Rush, UFO, Rainbow and Uriah Heep that inherited some rich 60's groove and experimented with some heavier distortion and synthesizers. It was cool to be experimental until mid 70's. Then, there came punk. Punk was all about "linear" drumming and predictable music structure. That was THE shit when it came in. So the heavy metal guys took it and made it a little more dynamic and "dramatic" in some ways. There we had the New Wave of Brittish Heavy Metal featuring bands like Motorhead, Def Leppard, Saxon, Judas Priest (that's why painkiller is so much different than the last of their songs you've reacted to) and Iron Maiden (which redeemed themselves when moving towards a proggier sound later on :P). That's why you guys (and me, personally) aren't likely to enjoy metal bands from that period. It was all about punk-ish structure - dull rhythms and no depth at all. From mid 80's on, metal history becomes muuuch more complex, but don't expect much from NWOBHM bands in that 1975-1980 period.
- Frankie Banali: If you're going to review Saxon, you have to review DENIM and LEATHER! That is their best song IMHO.
- Tom Tanaka: Another ignorant asshole talking about what he doesn't know.
- Jon Roberts: Sick Of It All - Just Look Around
- Urll Bunyon: Devin Townsend Project - Grace
- Baltzeg: Saxon are one of those "Second Tier" bands of that era. They were an okay band that wrote "okay" songs, but they were never on the same level of as some of the higher up bands that came before, or after, like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Scorpions etc. Nothing wrong with "Second Tier" bands, they're a nice go to when you need something else. I kind of felt the same way about Anvil and Saxon, I respect them for their dedication, but they're just to heavy on the cheesy side for me(especially Anvil). It's the same as Thrash Metal, there are a shit load of "Second Tier" thrash bands that were never on the same level as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer etc. when those bands were at their early peak. I like bands like Testament, Exodus, Death Angel, Overkill, Nuclear Assault...but their music was never as good as Metallica, Megadeth's, or Slayer when they were at their very peak.
- Parker Crook: Please listen to Windowpane by Opeth I think you guys will really like it. I really wanna see more Opeth :)
- HighlandViking: Keep up the surprises...Saxon, good choice, lads.
- Miro Castañeda: Savatage!!! Gutter Ballet or Chance
- Mollie Joe: Crusader
- Seth Hale: High on Fire-- Fury Whip and Sleep -- Dragonaut or Holy Mountain or Sonic Titan. Same guitarist for both bands. Sleep is really influential. They're stoner metal. Matt Pike's other band H.o.F. is like stoner mixed with sludge but played as a thrash metal song.
- Anthony Barnett: Hell ain't a bad place to be
- Raymond Cardella: +miconis123 S&M version
- Lantern Jaw: Saxon are not weak and Yes are not Canadian. Grow up.
- Reveal the beast DP: So many better saxon songs but cool that you've checked them out guys
- Aleksandar Rotar: Rainbow - Gates of Babylon
- Kris S.: Great video, as usual. I agree with you that many of these songs are locked in their period. The same goes for sci-fi movies that I’ve somehow missed as a child where I watched much later in life. Sometimes the technology used becomes dated looking, taking me out of the story. But if I watched and loved it when it came out, it becomes engrained in my DNA and I’ll mostly appreciate it the rest of my life. Also, just a small handful of suggestions: 1.) Warrant: “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” 2.) Stone Temple Pilots: ...Anything really. 3.) Queens of the Stone Age: “Song for the Deaf” 4.) Megadeth: “Wake Up Dead” 5.) Ozzy Osbourne vs Motörhead: “Hellraiser” 6.) Alison Krauss: “Ghost in this House” 7.) Iron & Wine: “Passing Afternoon” 8.) Rage Against the Machine: “Pistol Grip Pump” Stay free, free-thinkers.
- sokinikos23: Planet of Zeus
- Sgt Gamer: Definitely primo Victoria
- Phillip Rhodes: This is a brilliant song and Saxon are amazing! Now... consider doing some #Savatage!
- Daniel Castilla: Powerwolf Amen&Attack
- HellWarz Newz: give saxon DALLAS 1 PM a try ...
- Ginger Hammer: They definitely should do Talk Shit, Get Shot or Ski Mask Way.
- nick robinson: They were quite a local band to Britain at the time, and connected to us then more than they would to you now! However, try Big Teaser, The Eagle has Landed or 747 for more universal songs
- Bill Morgan: This song is so lame. Which gronks are recommending this? There are way better Saxon tracks.
- Stephen Wray: Please do Iron Maiden “Phantom of the opera” Although I love Bruce on vocals, Paul Dianno killed it on this song and album.
- Joe Thomas: Try Strong Arm Of The Law from Saxon. Better than this song. Or even Dallas 1pm. Or Hungry Years. But Strong Arm of the Law would represent Saxon very well. That song kicks ass
- Steven Smith: React to baby metal
- Don Sylvester: Excellent insight! These guys definitely influenced a lot of bands that came after (and brought a bit more to the table). Love seeing Saxon in your ears. You may like "Dallas 1 P.M." a bit more. Give it a listen, even if in private.
- Mark Clark: Thank you both so much for doing bands that ive heard of but never got the chance to listen too. Because of the fans and your channel i have so much to add to my rotation.
- Kelly Robertson: Need to give Maiden another go something like Wasted Years, Blood Brothers or Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
- MLG: Deep purple
- Tim Morin: No shit. Wasn't ready for that.
- Implosionstechnologie: This song is an immortal Heavy Metal classic.
- Vitaly Golub: You guys said it. Saxon does not grab quite like judas priest.747 is a better song, though. Would be nice to hear take
- Ginger Hammer: +kenneth laterreur they did 2112 by Rush so length shouldn't be an issue
- Kevin Lake: Fates Warning The Apparition
- Lord Gronbuske: You could try Sigh - Homo Homini Lupus, it's a very eccentric metal band that just released their new album Heir to despair, would be fun with some reactions to new metal songs and not just the classics.
- Sharoop Puthoor: Exactly no. 3 for me after puppets and one
- Matt Dawson: Whitesnake: Sailing Ships. Glam it up.
- Wellington Santoro: KREATOR - Phantom Antichrist
- Santos L Halper: Awful unfair to compare these guys to Priest. Priest is in a whole different league. And Sabbath is in a league of their own.
- Mariano GDS: Timeless Classic, a doze of the most sharp british metal forged in the Albion. Long Live Saxon. They still rocking...the latest albums are superb...fast and heavy and kick ass live...
- MoebiusPan: ^this
- x: At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
- Yahya Al Hajj: Hail from Middle East Lebanon! Love your reaction videos, and a big fan of your work. Hope to see you react to some of these songs Sons of Winter and Stars - Wintersun We Drink Your Blood - Powerwolf Panzerkampf - Sabaton
- MAXX WICK: TRIUMPH,"NEVER SURRENDER" TRIUMPH,"FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT"
- Hunter Nichols: I think Denim and Leather was their most popular song if I'm not sure Princess was a really poor showing for Biffs vocal skills
- Josh Smith: The Movement, in which Saxon emerged, was happening was right as Punk was coming into being. You can tell from the chorus and the way the drums are done that the movement kind of absorbed some of the characteristics. Iron Maiden's first two cds were from the same time and they also had to try to win over that crowd by utilizing some of the characteristics in the beginning. Just something to think about when you listen to other songs from this particular period. I still love your willingness to branch out.
- Greg Bartz: You guys gotta do some UFO! Rock Bottom or Lights out. Brit hard rock
- raziswickid: Saxon is a more stripped-down to the basics style of metal from that NWOBHM movement. if you wanna progress to a "richer sound", try out some DIAMOND HEAD. they're one of the all time greats from that era of metal. i recommend any song from the "Lightning to the Nations" album from 1980. just pick any song off there and you'll see what i mean.
- samhouston1979: y'all have to do "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath or "NIB"
- Patrick Tracy: Saxon tends to be a groovy, barrel-house band. Hook, chorus, solo, and out the door. They are a fun band, and pretty easy for non-metalheads to tolerate if they come on at a party. They are in no way extreme in technical musicianship, but they can pull off the songs live, even to this day, and give a great show. It's easy to get a little spoiled when you are listening to the curated highlights of the best rock and metal bands in history. But we who are "in the scene" will sometimes need to take a break from the best of the best, because we've worn them thin over the years. The good, solid bands like Saxon come in at that point, or the lesser known but great bands that take a little digging to find.
- R Licerio: Listen to Crusader by Saxon.
- loaditz: enjoyed the reaction and Saxon did influence a lot of great metal bands in the USA... another influential and I would argue very unique and original band that you should react to is the Misfits with the original line up that includes Danzig on the vocals
- the bujeezis: Please react to Judas Priest "run of the mill" ( studio version)
- Jeffrey Hueseman: Seconded
- Toni Saric: Iced Earth - A question of heaven please you'll not regret
- Raphael Dias: Power and glory is also very good!
- Tyler Miller: I like the drums in Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold. I'm not a musician, so the drumming in that song might be really basic and terrible, but it sounds good to me.
- Justin Hinman: If you want to give them a second chance, I’d suggest checking out their song Let Me Feel Your Power, it’s newer (2007) heavy, fast and should make everyone’s gym playlist
- Tom Tanaka: Seriously.
- dondebones: Judas Priest - Beyond the realms of death! Your welcome
- De'Yeneico Williams: You guys definitely gotta react to Marlon Craft- The Internet Lied. Song with a lot of depth and some clever bars. Most definitely check out the his entire The Tunnel’s End album. Amazing storytelling in that project!
- Michael Gonzales: Saxon is good not great. They've never in my opinion had a song that really hit hard and stood out. Great to see live (entertaining) but not memorable
- Necroblade T.V.: Please react to Virtue - We stand to fight or Thor - Angry, I rlly want to see your reaction
- MarkB 1181: Saxon is cool, though I only know a few songs. I agree this one's ok. Check out Strong Arm of the Law. You guys mentioned Judas Priest. It'd be dope asf if y'all reacted to "Dreamer Deciever/Deciever."
- aragorn771: Saxon? Dayummmmm... That was unexpected
- John Hampton: The 70s production and the fact that these guys weren't that big and therefore couldn't spend a lot on production, probably contributed to even worse sound on the album.
- Øystein Nilsen: Saxon actually toured with Iron Maiden before Maiden got their global breakthru. Saxon also still going strong... One of the most underrated metal bands out there.
- A Reputable Man: BOLT THROWER
- Watjalukinat: I do think Saxon can be dated. But this is not their best song. Crusader Let Me Feel Your Power Both are much better. Crusader had them banned in Dubai though
- 6thUser: Please consider next Saxon song to be ''To live by the Sword''. Cheers.
- Cook moore: I feel it's the creation of this New Metal genre being influenced by small clubs/bars getting the kids to move and perhaps highly influenced by punk since this band is from Britain.
- Andre Osorio: I'm a minute in n I can tell u guys HATE THIS SHIT LMAO
- Ar†ax: I agree with the opinion that it sounds flat and dull, and feel the same way, even more so, about Black Sabbath who came before these guys, so in their defense, Saxon was progressing away from the "flat and dull" towards more the more dynamic metal of the 80s. Just my two cents, from someone who is NOT a metalhead.
- Nerzenjäger: *_IN FLAMES - REROUTE TO REMAIN_*
- DocThunderfoot: Heavy Metal Thunder. Period.
- Greyson Graham: Check out their new album, Thunderbolt to hear a well-produced sound that shows off Biff’s vocals. I’m particularly fond of Nosferatu (The Vampire’s Waltz). Biff also did a Dio (Rainbow) cover of Starstruck with Motörhead that was excellent.
- Alexey Polev: Burzum
- Maxim Fesán: At start of their career Saxon were sorta blue-collar and overall decent quality, while still influencing many band afterwards (Metallica borrowed that duelling guitars from middle for "Seek and Destroy"). But eventually, starting from 90's they gained richness in production and songwriting. So yeah, even though back at the days they were not so impressive compared to Priest and Maiden, Saxon received some respect for their working-class friendly approach.
- Luke Robertson: Check out Accept- balls to the wall
- Fahim Ahmad: Saxon was the epitome of classic British heavy metal of early 80's - big influence on Metallica! I think people love them because they do sound dated from that era, but ur right...in 2018, it would appeal to the typical metal fan. I would try listening to more recent Saxon music - 'Thunderbolt' sounds amazing w/ today's tech. Or the song 'Denim & leather' from classic period
- gajark1: haggard awaking the centuries
- Tammy Perritt: Please do a Godsmack song ASAP😊 Straight out of Line is a great song ❤️ TY IN ADVANCE! Y’all rock! 🤘🏻😎🎸🥁
- Painter29: Iced Earth - Question of Heaven
- jay ray: IGORRR - Opus Brain
- The philosophical headbanger: Metallica kill em all full album reaction pleeeezz (And a LOT more Megadeth)
- WKUFranko: Wow, digging deep for some Saxon, never expected that. Dallas 1PM is a better tune.
- yakitoriPB: Sweet hat! Come take
- Sean Doucette: So many gems from this band! Check out “Crusader.” An extremely epic tune!
- John Doe: +JessBmine well that sucks! I'm sure that they'd love the hell out of his music
- eet fuk: Metallica - Damage Inc. No one reacts to this song but it's easily their top 3 in my opinion!
- hmpz36911: Saxon were pretty simple back then, and they really FEEL fit for the time. If you're not a big fan of rock and metal of that era, you probably won't appreciate it to the fullest. On that note, I'd highly recommend listening to something a little later, such as Metalhead from 1999, or Conquistador from the same record (Metalhead). It will translate better to you guys.
- Anthony Hernandez: Pantera Domination or Cemetary gates full version! Will not regret it!
- Chad Martin: Iced Earth - I Walk Alone
- Matt Maccay: honestly pantera are played out everyone reacts to pantera theyre free thinkers so think outside the box
- Wilikrdp: RUNNING WILD!
- Scott Sherman: U should listen to a live recording of the same song.
- Ludwig Olsson: I really like the amount of thought you guys put into this! keep it up
- Δήμος Εμ. Παππά: Savatage!!!!!
- james gribble: Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
- Opuskrokus: Saxon is British, yes. You know any other countries where "trainspotting" is a thing?
- Nick Schafer: Savatage - Chance
- Josh Trenholm: Boring tune
- Maike S.: I tried to watch a couple of other reaction channels, but I have to say: They can‘t keep up with you guys. To me, they all lack eloquence and substance. So shout out to you guys, you‘re doing a great job! 👍
- Pasza Dem: +Raymond Cardella so many amazing songs songs is underrated:(
- Marielle Nerder: Not to be _that person_ but I prefer, personally, the small breaks, rather than choppy editing ;) The song was about a boat, btw.
- Kyle Benz: I'm hoping you lean towards treating the metal genre similar to hip hop. Find the new stuff and recent bangers. Still hit up the old school, but focus on what's new and get these bands more exposure. That said, hit up Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells!
- Steel: Saxon is a better live than studio band. Take the live in wacken 2001 perf for example, superb
- Edward Loves crypto: AIC junkhead ... pantera floods or 13’s
- Pasza Dem: Guys! Do Myrkur - Ulvinde, that is something you never did before, this is most atmospheric song ever and that's 100% playlist for both of you:)
- Gr8Snjstr: I understand what you are saying. You had the same kind of feeling for The Reaper by BOC, one of my favorite songs. You may want to give their live version of the song a chance. I understand, after your AB live Fortress video, that live music isn't always your thing and I completely agree with your reasoning, but I think you might be surprised by how good they were live. Speaking of AB you may also want to check out Myles Kennedy's solo album. Definitely a different sound, but extremely good.
- Eldoctorador: Saxon - Midnight Rider
- Whytheguy 37: The Contortionist - Language parts 1&2 please
- Hawks SJ: ice cube arrest the president
- Pat Swett: Amaranthe please. Mechanical Illusion! Been waiting waiting waiting
- Diabolik771: 1:55 Metallica stole that part on Seek And Destroy.
- Douglas Fisher: Wildcats is a HELL of an album. Beast mode all the way through.
- UOAbigail LeVey: I'd like to add.. in regards to your analysis of the drumming vs RUSH.. although I do not know the influences on each band specifically.. the drummer for Saxon may or may not have even heard of RUSH at the time of this recording.. so it's possible that there were multiple 'progression lines' between the bands as far as how the music sounded, was influenced by, or influenced other bands' sound... especially in the earlier years of metal.. when technology and the ability to even hear a wide range of music/bands was more limited. That being said.. I have heard of Saxon tho never really listened to them as I had other interests at the time.. I can say tho that I probably would have liked them at the time if I had. Peace
- Sylvius the Mad: You've done Maiden, Priest, and now Saxon? I'm struggling to think of the next NWOBHM band on the list. Angel Witch?
- Nick Drage: Sleep - Dragonaut
- Michael Balxwin: Ozzy "Diary of a Madman"
- Johan Wuyckens: +Douglas Stabell Agreed. Dogman second if they're still interested. But I think they will, as King's-x's music has groove.
- John Head: Aerosmith nobody's fault!!!!Saxon is good top down cruising music.
- mike bair: Please listen to Garth Brooks - Unasnwered Prayers Randy Travis - 3 wooden Crosses Martina McBride - Concrete Angel
- William Visnosky: Great job guys please do run silent run deep by RAVEN
- robert inskeep: saxon was not an impact band like L/Z J/P I/M B/S
- TheTonyahawk: Saxon is alright and this is probably their most popular song, but y'all are right on the nose Priest and Sabbath are indeed better. Saxon opened for Priest in April and they did rock but again Priest was the headliner for a reason. Peace y'all!!
- Los Ingobernables de Brasil: Trivium - Kirisute Gomen, please.
- TB 7788: react to Lights Out by Royal Blood
- Jare M: Opeth - Burden
- schr3ck87: Iced Earth - Gettysburg
- Jerry Campbell: Saxon is just hard rockin', no-frills, heavy metal. Great riffs and catchy hooks. The drumming isn't as good as Neil Peart? Well, there's only one Neil Peart, and Saxon has never been a prog band. The production isn't on par with 2018 production? No kidding; the song is from 1981! You guys are great, but I'm sorry - I think that you tackled this one from the wrong angle. It came across as though you judged the band for what they're not, instead of what they are. For the record, I didn't grow up with Saxon. I was born in '86, and I didn't sit down and give Saxon a serious listen until earlier this year.
- BM: I love Saxon and Princess of the Night is a good song but Saxon does have some great songs. I’d recommend Crusader, Sailing To America and Power and the Glory.
- fckamir beas: Please guys: August Burns Red - Back Burner
- Somewhat Respectable: In my opinion, Saxon's old stuff just doesn't hold a candle to their post-2000 material. And I think the band feels the same way. I can't find the article for the life of me, but I remember Bill Byford comparing "State of Grace" (2007) to something like "Wheels of Steel" (1980) and saying that he thinks Saxon has just progressed in leaps and bounds as songwriters.
- J B: definitely studio version
- Mountain Lion Family: You want old school. Check out Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath.
- therodcap: Nightwish - Wishmaster or Planet Hell , please
- Rob Jarrett: This song is as catchy as any Priest song. Saxon have a more consistent discography than Priest, imo..
- Do Hoeijmans: Im in a Saxon tribute band so this was a huge surprise! Saxon is still going strong haha
- ERMALGA: Don`t break the songs please.......
- jeff brochetti: Sepultura--Ratamahatta
- Fred Allean: Very honest reaction. Saxon in the early 80's had a great power but sounded pretty cheesy sometimes. Biff Bifford, the lead singer, has grown old and nowadays sings waaaaaay better and composes more intersting stuff. You should check out songs like Hammer of the Gods, I've Gotta Rock and Mists of Avalon.
- Daniel Rodriguez: Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky
- Alex Rogers: State of grace pls
- Dermot Monaghan: Janes Addiction - Ted, Just admit it...
- Dustin & Blake: AC/DC - Touch Too Much
- Joshua Chap: This was rather unexspected and a bit more obscure when it comes more mainstream metal. There guys were important especially for their time but a bit forgotten especially with so many british heavy metal bands that came out from that era and did a lot more.
- Super Unknown: Rainbow in The Dark and The Last in Line by Dio
- Mark Kriss: Shedding skin pantera
- Zubin Shrestha: HOZIER - NINA CRIED POWER!!!
- MrAero164: YESSS "Black symphonyyyy"
- ANDY PICK: yep, do some Nightwish guys !
- Jaymz B.: I really dig old Saxon when im in the mood for nostalgiaI, so your "timeless?" question is very appropriate. (and I feel you). Some music doesn't age well. With that in mind I recommend you guys try Accept Fast As A Shark. It's not as old as Saxon BUT the song is timeless. Also you can't compare any other drummer to RUSH's, it's like comparing any other Boxer to Mike Tyson while he was boxing (not biting or getting in trouble with the law). Peace
- Fred Guedes: I think Crusader could grab him better.
- Wretch Gunk: Venom -Black Metal
- Patrick Penix: Dallas 1 pm by Saxon.....better tune....imo
- Nerzenjäger: *_ICED EARTH - STAND ALONE_*
- mike s: or denim and leather , that's actually more relatable to a non- fantasy buff.
- mikethepayne: Keep up the great work guys! Please do Judas Priest - A Touch of Evil or Metallica - Disposable Heroes
- J Donner: Bonham is the best drummer of any time.
- Graham Jennings: Guys please give humble pie ...black coffee a look ...Steve Marriott so underrated..I bet you won't be disappointed 👍
- Fantasia Engenhosa: I suggest the band Chastain, could be any song
- creamcheese65: While definitely cool, honest, and capable of some killer tracks (like "Watching the Sky"), Saxon are a second tier band. Still want to suggest "Man on a Mission" by Gamma Ray and "To Hell and Back" by Sabaton.
- Jason: Who has my lighter?
- Neal Crabtree: Gary Numan - My Name is Ruin plz =)
- lucifer lavey: Kings X - Dogman
- Wolfdog65: I don’t know who is making song suggestions. You have the hear Saxon The Eagle has Landed And. Power and the Glory. Guaranteed you will like those tunes
- Randy One: Please, please react To Israelian band Orphaned Land. Ther Cave (a long track) or Like Orpheus would be cool.
- Shawn Walldren: Avatar - "Bloody Angel" or "Statue of the King"
- Sergio Zambon: Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cells
- Kenny Alderfer: IV Crusade!!!!!
- HellWarz Newz: finally ... thanks
- Ayman: guys how about some arch enemy you must react to more female artist cheers
- Wayne Monaghan: Listen to Eagle has landed , Dallas I pm and Built in Belfast, lads
- JES SAW: Please do Mudvayne. Any song on L.D. 50.
- Drivenswe: I cant watch this shit. You ruin the songs with all those damn micro cuts allthrough the song.
- Wilfred Hinze: Avantasia - Reach out for the light Theocracy - Hide in the fairy ztale Kamelot - The Haunting ft Simone Simons Helloween - Straight out of hell Demon Hunter - Not ready to die Demons and Wizards - Fiddler on the Green Powerwolf - Sanctified with dynamite Tengger Cavalry - Cavalry in Thousands
- MJNation: React to Replica by Fear Factory and Egypt by Symphony X. Please.
- Adam Morris: Bargin bin metal band.
- Anthony Hernandez: Steve Vai Tender Surrender!!!! Guitar Porn
- Nigel Fortune: Great video guys. From the NWOBHM how about doing Am I Evil by Diamond Head.
- simo bambou: Nirvana - something in the way
- TheRockstarr33: I find that Saxon is one of those bands who tends to do relatively basic stuff, really well. Their songs (for the MOST part) aren't particularly complex, but are just good, solid rock songs.
- Axerty: The Mars Volta - Viscera Eyes
- Chase Ketterling: You guys need some more Iron Maiden in your life. Wrathchild or Dream of Mirrors
- Mike McKenna: Context. Yep, they are not Priest. No one is. That's what sets JP and Maiden apart from the rest of the pack. That being said, back in the day it was hard to get your hands on good (Saxon is good, not great) metal bands. You took a big chance at the record store because, for the most part, you weren't able to listen to them beforehand. It came down to word of mouth and/or album art. Just a different time.
- BumDog2112: Rush - Something for Nothing
- Piske81: Still waiting for HELLOWEEN Eagle Fly Free / I Want Out
- assaxon *: Could you give a listen to turning circles by Judas Priest. Or maybe Goddo Vampire Eyes since you two are from a moneysucking city HAHAHA
- ballcrash: Please do Motörhead - Orgasmatron!
- 7pavement: UFO - Rock Bottom (off the Phenomenon album)
- Lantern Jaw: +Matt Maccay Yeah but everyone else over-reacts for attention. It's all tears and hysterics.
- StuartBell52: Saxon: Denim & Leather, my favorite song from Saxon...
- mark gueren: A lot of the older metal definitely sounds dated....ESPECIALLY when you’ve listened to many technically amazing bands... so your ears are a little more adjusted to the newer styles of metal.. it’s great that your diving in to these older bands...
- AJ: *_True fact Graham Oliver lives at the bottom of the street_*
- so long and thanks for all the fish: Jerry Reed- Amos Moses Charlie Daniels- Legend of Wooley Swamp are good country jams also
- Gabe Ackerman Ackerman: Guys more different styles. Keep it going.
- Josh Haider-Smith: React to Rush - YYZ 😉
- Tom Tanaka: Sounds like you're a worthless bitch.
- RichieHendrixx: Saw Saxon live first time at Wacken 07. Didn't know them and was never a power metal fan. But I genuinely enjoyed them.
- Lazaro Murillo: Death - Left To Die
- Brandonio Granger: Go with a better song , Accept's - Princess of the Dawn ....Waaaay better track by a mile.
- Crimson Idol: W.A.S.P The headless children.
- Craven Moorehead: Some early priest is kinda dated.
- kmcclinton71: Weird selection with this one imo... try Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross or Clean My Wounds for some Southern doom/stoner metal
- Brad B: It didnt grab you because it's not very good. I didn't like it when I was younger and still dont today
- ShankDrums: Wasn't ready for Saxon, Awsome!!!
- Sean Brennan: Thank You Scientist - Blood on the Radio - This is something different and fun
- The Big Deal: I think you cats would dig Crusader or Just Let Me Rock.
- Paul Leach: Saxon is decent but they always make me want to listen to Iron Maiden or Judas Priest instead. TERRIBLE ANALOGY ALERT: Maiden and Priest are like Nike...high quality, the kicks everyone wants...you know "brand". Saxon on the other hand are the velcro "Pro Wings" from Payless...they do they job and cover your feet, but you'd never choose to wear them (in public) if you had Nikes. Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Nike, nor have I owned a pair since the 7th grade. Just my thoughts....hey, I warned you it was a terrible analogy.
- Cody Plucker: Iced Earth - Stormrider
- Ashy Larry: Thorns of Crimson Death - Dissection
- Tom Tanaka: Should have listened to Denim and Leather or 747!
- Dominik McNeder: Now go listen to Metallica's Seek & Destroy and check out the solo. Sounds familiar?
- Bob D: ...you guys are great. You make a great point - would you have liked this or appreciated it more had you heard it before more...modern stuff? Probably. I remember hearing Saxon for the 1st time in the early 80's and thinking they were about as "metal" as a band could be- then, I heard Iron Maiden and that opinion changed very quickly. I still ( and will always) love Saxon, saw them a couple of years ago and they were...fantastic. Kudos, ( yet again) to you fellas.
- Nick Kempster: How about some Swedish melodic death metal next time? I'd recommend checking out some Soilwork, either "Stabbing the Drama" or "Death in General".
- Roadking26: Agree. Stained Class is a great album.
- Tom Tanaka: Yeah, maybe if you just know a couple of their songs. Dig deeper and go for newer shit. Metalhead maybe?
- Scott Gillespie: Saxon Sucks!! U guys got it right..They influenced more shitty music...that's about it..
- Darren Gooding: old, lol, doesn't have the punch today's stuff has, plus they're not the most talented band compared to Priest
- Kiko C: Angra and then Adagio
- Ryan Sylverne: Great analysis and I think you make some great points. I like Saxon a lot but their early stuff is definitely very dated. Keep it up guys.
- CelestialWoodway: Never got into Saxon. A bit boring.
- Kana Kawase: Seconded. Or any Zeal and Ardor, really.
- Boobajew: Please react to Gojira- Global Warming live in studio!
- J. N.: I also found it strange that you listened to Saxon, I can't pinpoint why exactly, not that I don't like Saxon. Maybe you should listen to a song from their latest album "Thunderbolt", which came out in 2018, and then decide whether you still find them too old school or boring. My personal favourites from that album are "Sons of Odin" and "Predator".
- 369: If I`m not mistaken, some or all of the original saxon were part or all of Judas Priests road crew in the early years.
- Opuskrokus: Dammit guys, your editing messed up my air drumming!
- Necroblade T.V.: Love this band
- SadWings Raging: Crusader! Crusader!
- Ideas para Manualidades: A Little Piece of Heaven - Avenged Sevenfold
- Happy Mortal: I'm surprised they haven't done Nightwish yet. Personally, I'd like both a Tarja and Floor reaction, but not make it Tarja vs. Floor. They both were significant to their particular era of Nightwish.
- Imperfect Band: Any song from Saxon's Metalhead album would be a lot cooler.
- Antonio Bernabe: Man, I love George and Ryan's take on music in general. There's so much depth and very profound. Just unfortunate that they won't do Pantera because of Phil Anselmo. I hope someday they can get past that because of the genius that is Dimebag Darrel, and also that Phil Anselmo is actually such an underrated lyricist. Cheers
- Alejandro Guevara: Great reaction. I think you need to return to The Priest lml
- Bryant Smith: Judas Priest definitely makes music that is more timeless than Saxon.
- ATOMIC VINYL REVIEWS: check out Saxon 747 (Strangers in the Night) will blow your minds ! ;)
- yup me to: Pantera please. domination, cemetery gates or cowboys from hell
- Tre Jones: Ok I been a subscriber for months now and always loved your reviews and watch them daily to the point my daughter who's 12 has started watching them with me. I've commented here and there but nothing much but I LOVE all types of music and I would love if you did one of my recommendations. You will see that there's a wide range of music but all are great songs for a number of reasons. Here's my list: Jim Croce- You don't mess with Jim. Rancid- Fall Back Down. Devotchka-How it Ends Bad Company-Bad Company Chance The Rapper-Same Drugs (video version) Jane's Addiction-Jane Says (live version) Tool- Aenima Primus-My name is Mud Butthole Surfers- Pepper Queen-Somebody to Love Outkast- Spottieottiedopaliscious Jessie Reyez- Figures (video) A Perfect Circle- 3 Libras Pantera- 5 Minutes Alone Sublime- Badfish Filter-Hey Man Nice Shot Better Midler- The Rose Janis Joplin- Me and Bobby McGee Joyner Lucas- Frozen (video) Jidenna- Long Live the Chief These are a few gems. Selenium Forest - Plini G.O.A.T. - Polyphia (React to the Video, please.) Solar Sailcraft - Buckethead (It made me cry out of nowhere. Will always be the first Buckethead song I suggest.) Cry for The Moon or Feint- Epica (Live studio session is where it's at.) Notion or Jungle - Tash Sultana (Her live in house recordings are where it's at.) Where Owls Know My Name - Rivers of Nihil
- Dinamo: 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 Kings X - Dogman 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
- Johan Wuyckens: I totally agree. I seriously think they'd enjoy King's-X a lot. One of the most underappreciated bands in history, IMHO.
- Paul Leach: 6:14 - Pretty spot on there, Ryan. There were some great Rock drummers "back in the day" like John Bonham and Bill Ward but drummers have definitely been stepping up their game over the last few decades. That escalation in drumming technicality probably started with "Philthy Animal" Phil Taylor from Motorhead who pretty much invented the fast double bass style, which came about by accident when he was warming up. Ever since drummers have been trying to take it to the next level. EDIT: "But then there's Rush though". Fuckin A right!! They are one of those genre defying, exception to the rule bands...in a class all their own! I was going to mention Neil Peart but they tend to have a different fan base than bands like Saxon or other straight up Rock/Heavy Metal bands. IMO most modern Metal drummers still can't touch Neil Peart's ability behind the kit.
- Brahm Tancredi: You're the man!!! They have so many good songs.
- Luliby: Saxon. They're a cool band, and a lot of NWOBHM bands do get overlooked that are great, but this might not have been the best intro to them. I think you should have listened to that title track on the album right there, Denim And Leather. It definitely dates itself a bit (with the lyrics, you'll hear), but what an anthem.
- Vernon Allen: Dallas 1p.m. Saxon.
- Andrew Beswick: Do Charles Bradley!!
- TheTrognation: Candlemass - Gothic Stone/Well of Souls
- StraightGamesta: This band is pretty weak... There are many better examples of hard rock/metal. Yes from the early 70's sounds way more timeless and has way more 'power' in their songs... You guys really need to check out Yes - Yours is no Disgrace (Yes is as close to Rush as you can get because they are both from Canadia... lol)
- 70s80sRocker 1963: A TIMELESS CLASSIC. Ted at his best.
- Myndir: This song is the best EVER love song for a train, by FAR.
- lillady1077: Saxon sucked then and sucks now
- Flame Wizard: Pink floyd - time
- 7UP YOURS: Sabaton - Carolus Rex
- Tom Tanaka: Hi Ultimate Warrior.
- doctorx3: I know a lot of people love Saxon, but I could never get too hyped for them. I mean, I love early '80s British metal, but to me? I know they're going for that street level swagger about booze and sex and street fighting, but they lack that certain extra oomph. They're not crazy or dangerous or weird enough to be really fun. To be honest, I feel like they're trying to recapture the feeling and sound of an era that had already passed, and they weren't re-framing it or re-arranging it enough to make it interesting again. You CAN do that, but something else is required.
- Volcanoman: +Kiran Buzza I think it should be *Slaying the Dreamer!* Some of the best *power metal* ever made. Also, I think that if they're going to react to Nightwish, it should be to Tarja-era Nightwish, at least for the first song they hear. She is a goddess among mortals, able to hold crowds enraptured with her operatic style and larger-than-life personality. I don't care where you stand on her being a "diva" or whatever her former bandmates accused her of when she left (or was asked to leave) the band...SHE set the tone for the band, she was their biggest asset in terms of what made them unique/original, and although they have absolutely gone on to be basically as good as they were in the pre-2006 days, she remains the best vocalist they've ever had (in my humble opinion). As for the above suggestion of Ghost Love Score, that's an incredible song, but it might lose them in its eclectic nature (which is to say that it's got a lot of transitions, going from ambient/orchestral to metal pretty abruptly). The last thing one wants to do is recommend the Metropolis Pt I of Nightwish when more accessible options are absolutely available. Slaying the Dreamer is a punchy, hard-hitting HEAVY song with killer riffs. Exactly the kind of song that should appeal to a Nightwish n00b.
- fazzfood joint: Can't believe your doing Saxon I love it I'm gonna predict y'all not so much
- Luso CR7: Greetings from Portugal! I think was in the vídeo Scorpions/Sails of Charon, Ryan say something his curious like how the bands sounds Live... My opinion you should see performance of the bands also. If you like the idea here some good tips AC/Dc 70s - Angus Young the guitar player his the best on stage Black Sabatth 70s - Ozzy Osbourne, you will see why his famous. His happy on stage Metallica with Cliff Burton the soul of Metallica Megadeth with Nick Menza on drums and Marty Friedman on guitar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3nEAmt5AZ8 - AC/DC Let There be Rock Live 70s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8B4BdAs0h4 - Black Sabatth, Snowblind Live 1978 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdlQyNe_9tE - Metallica, Form Whom the Bells Toll, with Cliff Burton (God) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr9q9d8-NhM&list=RDMr9q9d8-NhM&index=1 - Megadeth, Tornado of Souls This were times when bands had to prove they were good on stage too I hope you like it and hope you make vídeos with this. Keep going and God bless you both
- Mattias Nordstrom: I agree with you here. Saxon is not bad. Not awesome. Feels pretty baseline. Nothing really happening in the song. Sort of comfortably boring.
- Johan Wuyckens: For a more fair comparison with 2018 Metal, you should listen to a more recent Saxon track. Try "Witchfinder General". That song rips. The sound and production are way more advanced than the barebone production that was common in the early 80's.
- Mike H: Time for some iced earth!
- mh445: Saxon is a really classic metal band. But you have to be really into metal to appreciate them nowdays. Crusader, 747 and Ride like the wind are also classics
- 21BrockBaldridge12: DREAM THEATER
- Lee Thibidaux: Metal Church Ton of bricks Start the fire Watch the children pray The Human Factor Bad lands
- bigbillystrikesback: You guys should check out angel witch - Atlantis
- Rob Shillito: Never liked this song myself either! I was brought up on Saxon. How does this compare to Wheels of Steel? 747? I can keep going. It doesn't!
- Fabian Calderon: Pink floyd - dogs
- dave ethridge: I always found Saxon cheesy and dated.
- Seth Moreno: Fly!!!
- Hvypower 24/7: Helloween eagle fly free ! Please ! Awesome melodic and coherent display of playing !
- Thomas Anthony: DEAFHEAVEN!!!! BROUGHT TO THE WATER
- veritasrex66: Wow. Didn't expect this Brit metal oldie to pop up on the notification. It certainly got my attention.
- Insulter of Yeezus Christ: Sam Malekghassemi YES
- Nate Baker: You heard the drums on this joint that man really went at it when I heard it cuz it felt like the drummer and the guitarist was clashing and doing some really skillful moves man. This was really fresh and new to me and it was great. Good on both Saxon and Lost In Vegas.
- Caleb Grinder: FEAR FACTORY!!!!!!
- Miguel Barrios Hernandez: Con 14 años vi a Saxon en concierto, estos tíos llevan el metal,el asfalto y la libertad corriendo por sus venas, jjjje!!!
- marvelmaniac88: Chevelle - Any of these songs: Family System, The Clincher, Safer Waters, Humanoid, A New Momentum, Clones, An Island.
- Brandon Graham: Back On The Streets by Saxon is a way better song. You should check that out instead.
- john cogburn: Saxon still performs live, and really live, and are fantastic. This album was very important when it came out. They have their own sound. If you really want to trip out on a Saxon song that is still ahead of its time, I'd love to hear your reaction to The Eagle Has Landed. Great show. Happy Thanksgiving
- mindre begavet: Crusaders
- ron milman: Orphaned land- Halo Dies!
- Andreas Kl: Doctor rock !!!
- Michael Noonan G: I believe it comes down to production values. The most popular groups were usually lucky enough to have a major label budget, and more studio time to made a better souding product. Meanwhile there's groups that could have been timeless, who built a live following in their day with great playing and songs, but have a recorded output that sounds like it was recorded in one afternoon in a basement somewhere.
- A Christina Portillo: Have you reviewed zebra? Same time period.
- moeroa1974: AND they're BACK!! missed you guys
- Sebastian Koch: Hehe, i was certain even before watching the video that Saxon would leave you guys somewhat cold. Love the old Saxon stuff now, but i think for todays ears it may be a bit of an aquired taste. Frankly, for me it defintely was, even though in general i´m really into 80s Metal. :-)
- Dylan Neuens: I love Saxon and this song, but it sucks that you have to spend 5 minutes carefully rewording the fact that you don’t prefer it knowing that the internet is going to try and roast you for having a different opinion. Should be able to just explain how you feel and leave it at that without massaging everyone’s over-sensitivities.
- Metalmechanic: You guys would probably appreciate newer Saxon more . The production on the old Saxon albums isn't great. You could check out he 2001 re recording https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_QQjmcuw5Y
- Phil Henri: :30-1:30 in and I could already tell this is/was not your jam. That being said you have to take a deeper look at where they came from and the era this was recorded in, In my opinion thats where some of these reaction channels loose me. It often gets compared to "Today's sound" but the thing is there would be no "Today without yesterday!" P.s A lot of the older bands you are reacting to in my opinion you really need to get into some of their 'Deeper Cuts" to really get a handle on it!
- Matt and Shley McNeal: Volbeat - Still Counting Trivium - Entrance of the Conflagration Death Angel - The Dream Calls for Blood
- Spegy N Merbles: Saxon are a bit dry imo. I do really like metal head by them tho, you might like that one better
- Ian Mcevoy: Not the best example of Saxon - I would have expected something like 747 or Wheels of Steel. NWOBHM is full of hidden gems, influencers and spawned a heap of genres - you should check more of it out.
- DC Blunt: If they do any Metallica album it should be Ride the Lightning.
- NeoHedge: Black diamond by stratovarius :)
- Druj Nasu: I agree with you guys! Some bands stands the test of time much better than others. Saxon was a great band when I grew up in the early 80's, but they just aren't as timeless as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. It is a great song though.
- Metal Enthusiast: NWOBHM was the first movement when metal was actually considered "metal", there were metal bands before this time period (77-84) that were considered to have the metal sound and were quote unquote metal bands, like, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Yet, the term was not entirely applied to these bands until the NWOBHM decade. NWOBHM got rid of some of the blues influences from the 60s and early 70s, and brought in a strong punk influence, which increased the "DIY" ethos, raw production, and fast tempos of the bands in this decade. Britain during this period, became a petri dish full of hard rock/metal bands that were each unique and had their own style and here we saw the beginnings of thrash metal, power metal, black metal, and progressive metal. Even "traditional metal" had its beginnings here. Saxon was considered the best of all these bands hands down. They were at the top of their game in the early eighties, before even Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Motorhead saw their first chance of success. However, poor marketing decisions and their label Carrere and EMI dropped them, which caused them to receive the Tygers of Pan Tang treatment. Iron Maiden and Def Leppard got big because they sold out to American audiences and changed their sound a bit to appeal to wider audiences. Def Leppard took the glam/hair metal approach and Iron Maiden got a stronger singer, a la, Bruce Dickinson who could sing higher notes and appeal to arenas. Motorhead received more credibility at the street level though, through word-of-mouth and cult status among many heavy metal fans. I would like you guys to react to some Tygers of Pan Tang - Euthanasia Other Saxon songs to check out - Stallions of the Highway Wheels of Steel Motorcycle Man Stand Up and Be Counted And the Bands Played On
- Brad Swanson: Graveyard. Rock at its finest. Swedes just do it better. Try the track "the siren"
- Dat Nilla Von Dizzle: This is not their best. I know... I know... but really anything off the Crusader album is best bet.
- Arvis Pinkletter: Dates vs. Timeless is a debate that I try to steer clear of. Instead I'd rather go, "well, did I like this or not?" and try to zero in on the details, which I think you've done here.
- NoLegalPlunder: Great analysis. The lyrics to this song do it for me. The images it evokes of a racing steam engine jn the night, and of times gone by, is very cool.
- Shepard Kahn: How about some Dancehall. Ring the Alarm ft. Buju Banton, ft Tenor Saw
- Tom Tanaka: Today's stuff is not as good as the old stuff. Stfu.
- Piske81: As every other band you listen to just remember that their style is not defined by just one song, and of course Saxon too have much more modern albums that you would probably like more than this one - same goes for Testament, which I think you would love if you listened to something more recent, give them a second chance please
