The star N6946-BH1 in a spiral formation 22 million light years away known as the 'fireworks galaxy', was last seen by Nasa's Hubble Telescope in 2009. By 2015, it wasn't there anymore.

How did a star 25 times the size of our Sun simply wink out of existence? Such large stars often go out with a bang – a supernova – blasting off much of their remaining mass before collapsing to form an incredibly dense black hole.

Several of the planets orbiting a nearby star may harbor “substantial amounts” of water, astronomers say, including three planets situated in a habitable part of the star’s solar system.

The star—called TRAPPIST-1—is an ultracool dwarf star 40 light years away. It is orbited by seven Earth-size planets, according to the Hubble Space Telescope.

The largest asteroid ever tracked by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory will pass by Earth just 11 days after the Great American Solar Eclipse.

Asteroid Florence, named after nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, will pass by Earth on Sept. 1 at a safe distance of 4.4 million miles, roughly 18 times the distance between the Earth and the moon.

Florence is 2.7 miles wide, making it the largest asteroid ever tracked by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

UFO or Meteor?You may recall the meteorite that crashed in Russia last year and now there are reports of another massive flash in the sky.

Video footage is making the round online showing a dull orange bulb-like flash lurking behind the clouds. Within moments, the mysterious light seemingly exploded and took over the dark sky, making it look like flames were spreading.

Locals watched in awe as the so-called blast moved across the sky and it wasn’t long before speculation began spreading about what it could be. Not surprisingly, theories run from it being another large meteorite to alien ships.

Emergency services staffers along with scientists haven’t been able to make an official determination.
